I think it's a good thing for Moorabbin. South Rd will always be congested...it's 6 lanes with a 70 speed limit...plus the dingley bypass.

Moorabbin needs more community...more retail space and more...things to do! People move out of Moorabbin because there is not much there. Young families are yearning for cafes...restaurants. Not only will this development provide housing...but it will provide community facilities for everyone to enjoy.

Harvey Norman and Clark Rubber and the car wash are great...but they have not really added much value in terms of commuity. If they were to do the opposite and say..."We're bulldozing 50 houses so we can put a Harver Norman there" that wouldn't make much sense would it?

I think it would be a good thing for the area...it's called progress and it's building communities and businesses. It's generally the reason why people want to live in more densely populated areas like Elsternwick...Bentleigh...Hampton...because there are things for people to do. For existing residents they should consider themselves lucky as land values will increase as well.

    I fully support this development

I do not think this type of development is right for Moorabbin. There are too many apartments in the group and we are already being warned that there are too many units being built in Melbourne and they do not hold their value. I am afraid that any development with this amount of units would become a white elephant and decrease the value of properties in Moorabbin. Also, the parking/extra traffic would become a nightmare in the surrounding streets.

These large groups which are showing up along the Nepean Highway are not doing our area any favours.

    I would oppose this development.

As a 10 year resident of Moorabbin I agree with George's comments......Moorabbin Junction, Retail and Activity Centres are dead and dreary....there is a bad stigma about Moorabbin and very little to do here especially with a young family or friends.

This large scale development will bring vibrancy and extra retail investment to the area (already have 5 massage parlours but another Cafe, good quality eatery or bar would be nice).

The only thing I will be looking out for is:

    1) No public / commission housing OR an absolute minimal amount. This should be disclosed to any purchasers of the facility and the community! (the most recent public housing building and boarding houses on south rd has made for interesting times when shopping at Woolworths. It's unfortunate but recently I had one wander into my home while I was there - Police tracked them down to the above mentioned building from my description but could not do anything as the door was unlocked and I asked them to leave and they did so they were not trespassing - probably a bit off topic but something to think of.

    2) As far as traffic goes Linton St will not be able to handle another 500+ cars making up to 5 trips per day after Linton St / St Kilda Football Oval redevelop. Therefore either Linton St is upgraded OR cars enter/exit at South Rd OR the best option would be if Council enforce their Adopted Moorabbin Structure Plan which proposes an extension of central avenue connecting it through to the park - this would no doubt break up congestion of cars turning into south rd from linton st as the cars would now have the option of exiting to South Rd via Healey St, Taylor St or Station St or you could travel down central ave, healey st or Redholme St to exit to Nepean Hwy.

If the above two points are ticked off I don't care if it's 5 or 10+ storeys high, I think this development is a win win for local residents, its apartment purchasers, council rates $, the developers, the builders and local trades.

What a great addition to this dreary end of Morrabbin - bringing mixed use development and apartment accomodation close to public transport networks is absolutely key and the right thing to do to grow density in our city to fit in a million more people. Every apartment we build to house a couple or a young professional family or couple is another 400-500sqm of land we don't have to subdivide off in out regions of victoria which just adds to massive amounts of cars on the roads.

Yes we will have a glut of apartments coming, but that will finally add supply to our tightly held construction industry and change our narrow mindset in Australia that apartment living is somewhat substand. Looking forward to creating some vibrancy finally in Moorabbin!

How tall is the proposed building? It doesn't mention in the application.
Seems like a pretty key point that is omitted.
