I've already formally objected, but this development seems so egregiously out of place & character I felt I needed to object here as well.
CERES is an asset to th community around it. To place such pressure through high density housing on what is already a congested area (go there on a Sat or Sun) seems down right silly. There is already existing high density 2 story development in this area; additional development of this nature would at least blend & conform to existing physical & aesthetic standards, a 6 story tower on the other hand would just be completely out of place & would set an unwelcome precedent for developers. Nicholson St is being developed at pace, do we need to move this scale of construction up side streets? I enjoy living in Moreland raising a young family, but this type of development is seriously giving my reason to consider moving.
Please, do not let this go ahead.

The idea of a 6 storey apartment building in this street is insane. The street is already congested enough as it is. There are already higher density dwellings on the street, CERES traffic and plenty of people using it to avoid waiting all day to turn left at the tram stop. Not to mention the fact that there are no buildings taller than 3 stories in the immediate vicinity, and nor should there be. Please, PLEASE consider the existing environment when looking at these developments, they don't exist in a bubble and they will destroy our neighbourhood - the very reason people want to live in Brunswick East.

This development is highly inappropriate and not in keeping with the neighbourhood characteristics surrounding it. Nor does it address a number of things contained in the Brunswick Structure plan that specifically relates to this area near CERES. Higher density developments may be required due to increasing land costs in the inner city but not at the expense of amenity to existing residents. A 6 level apartment building is not required in this non high growth street, nor is it necessary for the expected population growth (refer inside Moreland brochure) given approvals already approved on Nicholson St, Lygon St & Sydney Rds which are all Activity Centres ear marked for high growth developments.
We have 2 existing townhouse developments in this pocket which a) respond to higher density b) still remain connected to the community c) respect the character of the existing neighbourhood. d) do not contribute negatively to traffic/parking issues.
Please reduce this development to 3 levels maxium and ensure community connection. This development will add noise to neighbouring houses in Stewart & Kingfisher & possibly create wind tunnels as it is too close to existing residents & towers over any small private open space reducing amenity & will also create traffic and parking issues. Essentially it will be an insular ghetto building in its current form as it is does not contribute to the community around it. Ideally 269 Stewart St should be a townhouse development, there are far too many vacant apartments already, townhouses are far more viable from a sales point of view and attract more buyers & remain community connected!

I am strongly objecting this unreasonable high density residential apartment project. This will put lots of negative impact on the surrounding already congested residential area with a relatively narrow entrance and exit away at Roberts St. Furthermore, CERES is an asset to the community which has been promoting environmental living concept. To build a six storey high density apartment next to it seems unreasonable and non-justifiable. It will also impact the longevity of the CERES in the long term. This project is not acceptable, given the foreseeable negative impact on the community living in the long term.
