These kind of overdevelopmens continue to exacerbate existing traffic jams and hygiene issues with the flow of dirty stormwater onto local neighbouring properties.
The is no space for such developments so please reduce number of units developed.

  2. S Mak commented

7 storeys would be a lot taller than surrounding buildings. Has the town planning changed?

Who would want to live right at this busy road junction anyway? And, beware the residents' cars wanting to turn right from Forest Road travelling north. No amount of double white lines would discourage them.

  3. C Man commented

It will make the place a lot busier and 7 stories is too much it would overshadow everything else.

  4. A.S commented

Seven stories is much too high and letting this happen so close to main intersection and shopping centre will then turn Bexley into the ugly mess that Rockdale is starting to turn into, where will these peoples cars go, where will their kids go to school, where will they go to shop, hospital. how many more will be fighting to get on to Forest, Harrow or Bexley Rd each morning peak hour? Stop the over development, three stories is ample, sick of greedy developers who contribute zilch to infrastructure building these monstrosities .
think of all the locals that will be affected by this, and overshadowing a primary school and art deco block of units, time to say NO for a change

Way to high. revamo yes. But keep height as it is. It's way too crowded. Whoever approved this, please reconsider see. As you can see by comments. No one is happy about this. And we pay rates so we have a say.

  6. Freda Macrozonaris commented

And another thing, how can Melissa Rodrigues, the Town Planner, think the height won't impact anyone. Look around. It's easy to see how it will. This height is just unbelievable. Think again. She really needs to think, again.

  7. Melody commented

What a ridiculous proposal at a congested and dangerous location which already has serious problems with parking and traffic safety. 7 storeys is absurd please reduce the size of the development. It's is completely out of scale with the surrounding buildings and there is not enough public transport to cope with this amount of units.

  8. S. Mak commented

Bexley has been left behind by Mike Baird. We have no new roads, no new stations, no new public transport. So, the only thing we are asking is - NO NEW DEVELOPMENT

    Thanks for passing this on.

  9. Freda Macrozonaris commented

Agreed with all the above comments. Not only with this building be an eyesore once built, it will be an absolute nightmare for the road users, which I am one every day. How will this possibly be built. There's a school next door. The noise and pollution whilst it's being built will impact on the students' learning. And if built this high, students could be watched playing. This will be a serious issue with children's safety. This application cannot be approved. The height must be reduced. Council must come and see the roads fur themselves. The pictures shown in the traffic report are completely false. Traffic is conjested at most times of the day. And the pictures of people standing out the front is false too. No one stands idly at the curved of forest and harrow rd. it's completely dangerous. Whenever I wait to cross the roads there, I stand as far back as possible cos of speeding cars trying to fly through amber lights. This proposal is downright dangerous.

Overdevelopment is killing our city. Please reconsider this monstrosity.

  11. Greta Hughes commented

The height of this development is way too high. It does not match the surrounding buildings and it will impact on the residential units behind, as well as the school next door. The traffic in this vicinity is already a major concern.
The residents do not approve this development. If the council does approve it, then they will not be representing their constituents who pay the rates! It would also raise big suspicions of some sort of corruption! Greedy developers should not benefit at the regular citizens' expense!

  12. Jeff G commented

This type of development should no go ahead in such a place. Developers never have enough parking provided in the building. There should be 2 spots for every unit and 3 spots for every business plus 5 spots for visitors to the businesses! Will that happen? NO. The residents will have no place to park and will park all over Albyn street which is already over subscribed. Then there is the height it is absolutely out of character with the rest of the streets and too close to the school next door. The council should reconsider the approval if already given and reject anything over 3 stories max, Forest road would need a divider to stop illegal turns for cars heading north. Harrow road is already a nightmare in peak hour heading north. To put it bluntly this needs to be rejected as it has been presented and reined back down to 3 stories.

I get these planing alerts all the time and read half your comments .. Stop all your winging and whining people .. Sydney is the fastest growing city in Australia .. If you don't like the changes made on developing areas and creating new jobs and infurstucture then MOVE !! The population is about to reach millions in Sydney .. I'm all for change and embrace the fact that Sydney is growing and is desperate for more housing
    Embrace the change people !!!

  14. Jessica Stalenberg commented

    Chris @ banksia,
Your comment is rude and short sited - similar things the racist 'love it or leave' rhetoric. I understand that these kinds of dwellings need to go up in Sydney to fulfill housing shortages, however look at all the comments people are posting! Change needs to involve the community. Sustainable solutions need to be put into place. There is no infrastructure or services to support these ugly developments. We have a seven story, 30 unit building on Station st kogarah. It looks like a lego block and it's i badly constructed, blocking light and towering over a an otherwise pretty area. The fast fashion of housing.

  15. V Mac commented

Chris @ Banksia. Come and have a look and see for yourself. These roads cannot take on these developments. The surrounding residents have reason to oppose. Why should they move? And really, no one will be 'moving' because traffic is at a standstill. Make the roads suitable and then develop. Thanks for joining us whingers with your whinge and whine, too.

  16. A Resident commented

    Chris @ Banksia.
It is obvious that a large percent in Bexley and in the surrounding area does not want this horrible mess of an eyesore to be built.
Please take a note of it.

  17. V Mac commented

Residents bought in this area knowing that there were height restrictions. It is unfair for those buyers to have to be overshadowed by this building. And they cannot afford to buy air rights like wealthy developers. Parking is also an issue as this entire corner is no stopping and no parking. Where would the extra cars these tenants will have be parked? Relatives and visitors, too? Too many apartments for such a small block. And on a dangerous corner. There's a bus stop where the driveway is supposed to go. Red-light speed cameras, electricity wires and poles. This development needs to rethought.

  18. Fmac commented

Any news on this development. The overshadowing will be the biggest issue. It must be scaled down again. 5 storeys still too high.

  19. S Mak commented

I will not be in town on 26 June so no meeting for me. I have read a little more on the council documents page, so here are some more feedback:
    1. Please do not put un-redacted submissions on the page, our emails are visible there
    2. My focus is on traffic, so regarding the revised traffic report - firstly they must have taken the street photos at 6am in the morning!
    3. I checked the delay I experienced at 4pm on Saturday, not a weekday, and my delay from stopping in the traffic and passing through intersection on Forest Road in SW direction, was 2 minutes. Hardly the report's average of 15,16 seconds recorded on a weekday! Accordingly my LOS is F, not B as claimed by report. LOL!
    4. Conclusion by these 'experts' -
    "Conclusions on the Existing Conditions
The proposed development is located in an area where there are a reasonable
number of vacant car spaces on a weekday but a driver will need to circulate to find
a car space as part of any town centre.
The nearby intersection performs well with sufficient spare capacity to
    accommodate additional traffic.
The site has excellent access to public transport."
Another LOL again. The problem with finding parking around that intersection, is there is no way to 'circulate' once you drive past without somewhere to stop. The traffic design and conditions ensure you have to keep driving for a while before you can turn back. No wonder Bexley shopping strip is so dead.
This is a prime example why councils cannot rely on experts hired by developers to do the certifications for them.

  20. Cameron commented

The original development was proposed for 6 lots and now 7 with 30 residential areas instead of the originally proposed 22. How did this quietly become higher than previously stated without development even beginning yet. Something doesn't seem right about this. This area is already heavily congested with traffic coming and going from the M5 tunnel thanks to West"con"nex and if this set gets built in such a tiny area there will be more cars, and more traffic filling up these small suburban roads. Traffic coming too and from Bexley North is bad enough as it is !

Wondering what is happening with this development as the owners are now selling it.
