THE ABOVE PROPOSAL SHOULD NOT BE APPROVED ON THE GROUNDS THAT FAIRWAY DRIVE IS ALREADY HEAVILY DEVELOPED AND IS A MAIN LINK TO BELLE VISTA AND WINDSOR ROAD. WITH A SCHOOL ALREADY BEING BUILT NEAR THIS PROPOSAL I THINK THIS DEVELOPMENT SHOULD BE DENIED.

  2. Sameer Desai commented

This Development was originally approved in 2011 and the developer kept dragging it out until new approval in Jan 2018. Hills Shire Council allowed rezoning of land in neighbourhood but failed to inform all the new residents moving in. although Buyers should be Beware, due to substantial changes to surroundings and especially construction of BV primary school just next door, this development should be moved to a different location. Boarding houses are usually for transient population such as ex-convicts, homeless persons, rehab etc and is state sponsored. It is a great initiative by the NSW Govt but not next to the school. I will not be sending my kids to this school with a boarding house next door. I will avoid the school even if it is 1 in Thpusand chance of some wrong happening to my child. This boarding house MUST be stopped and moved to a more business/commercial location.

  3. Kshitij Mallick commented

This proposal should be stopped as it clearly puts the new Bella Vista Public school in dangerous proximity to the proposed boarding house. Kids and the neighborhood safety is primal and council should strongly consider moving the boarding house to another location outside of the suburb that is more suited to this purpose.

  4. Priyanka jain commented

I am very concerned regarding the boarding houses proposal just next to my property. I am against this proposal:

1 This is an inappropriate location for these houses to be build just next to the Bella Vista Primary SCHOOL and

    2 LOW density residential properties.

3 We need a SAFE and PEACEFUL environment around us.

  5. N Farhat commented

Can we please understand the reason behind boarding house development. I believe that the transient population that will typically use boarding house like residents are not residents that should be living alongside primary school. Find a more industrial area for such development and keep it away from the youth.

On another note this area is becoming very populated and congested, adding a boarding house here is not appropriate or well thought out. High denisity residence just makes no sense in the vicinity of kellyville/Bella vista/norwest

Please keep the residents in the area informed. To date we have very little engagement on this proposed development.

  6. Sue and Kevin Stutchbury commented

This application was originally granted in 2011, at the time most of the land was still acreage. The demographics of the area has changed including a new school in construction and a new park which is a great facility for children living in nearby units. We are concerned that a boarding house in our area is totally unsuitable for our young community. We ourselves have made 3 enquiries with the council since late 2016 as to the use of this land, one as late as January this year, to be told each time the original application had expired and the applicant would need to reapply. WE STRONGLY OPPOSE THIS DEVELOPMENT!

  7. Om Chintkuntlawar commented

This is not an appropriate location for a boarding house. Average block cost is well an truly over $1m and boarding house would be out of character for this area. Also being next to the school as well as family oriented neighbourhood boarding house in this location is not acceptable.

  8. Concerned Resident commented

It is totally wrong and irresponsible to approve such a project right next to a primary school!!! I certainly would NOT recommend this school to any one in this area.

And no residents in the area was informed by the council!

The council should issue a statement to all residents to clarify this situation.

  9. Concerned Resident commented

As what’s been already highlighted, the site is not suited to this development given its proximity to the upcoming school. Just seems like a planning disaster that has potential to completely waste the funds spent on school development.

Of course no prize for guessing what this means in terms of (future) community support for our governing bodies or elected authorities.

    Stop this development!

  10. Deepak Jain commented

This is not a suitable location for building a housing board facility next to primary location. I am not sure what is the reasoning behind but along with other residents I am very concerned with the safety of kids in the area. It is also going to make already crowded fairway drive even more crowded.

  11. Gagan commented

This Boarding house was approved 8 years ago. Demographic of Fairway drive and area around is completely different at present. Boarding house is still not built and 100s of families have moved in area area without any knowledge of this approval. Council should reconsider this approval and give current residents a chance to have their say. A decision taken by few many years ago can not be forced upon unsuspecting residents who have been kept in dark about this out of character development for area.
Residents are very concerned about this development in their neighbourhood specifically next to a new primary school. We urge Council to stop this unjustified development and STRONGLY oppose boarding house on Fairway drive.

  12. Cynthia commented

Not only the kids safety is the priority, there are also retirement villages built in the area, our senior residents safety need to be carefully considered too!

  13. Susan B commented

Hills Council please put a stop to this development as many residents are STRONGLY opposed to the construction of a boarding house on Fairway drive.
My main concern as a parent is the close proximity to a primary school. I certainly would NOT enrol my children with the threat of sexual predators, crime and congestion across the road. I would NOT recommend this school to any one in this area.

  14. Peter Iannetta commented

I'm against this development. This facility so close to a primary school and playground is completely inappropriate and raises questions of child safety.

Surely there are more appropriate locations that can be considered.

  15. Debbie Macdonald commented

As a young family living on fairway drive I am very concerned about this bording house. If this goes ahead I will not be sending my children to the public school.

This bording house should not be built directly across from a public school, near the park and in a already high traffic area which is only going to get busier.

  16. James Bradbury commented

There is no way we will be recommending any of our friends and families kids to attend this new school due to the gross miscalculation of allowing a boarding house across the road from it - Hills council this needs to be revoked as the council must act in the residents interest, not a for profit developer: precedent: showground station mirvac.

  17. A Kiaian commented

Building this kind of facility so close to a school and in an already crowded area is a recipe for disaster. If you guarantee the people that will be staying that’s a different story but we know that in reality you don’t have the means or ability to VET everyone to ensure no criminals end up here

  18. Kristy Farrugia commented

Please stop this from happening. It's opposite a public school. Does the department of education know this?

  19. Kitty Cheng commented

It is just wrong to put our vulnerable children into a primary school which is right next to a boarding house. I am very concerned about children's safety and will definitely cancel the plan transferring my kids to this school. Kellyville/Bella Vista/Norwest has been labelled and promoted as a family friendly community. This boarding house is totally out of character in the area.

    Please stop this development.

  20. Javier H commented

This development was approved back in 2011 first when the area was totally different to what it is today. A boarding house across a school and next to playgrounds is inappropriate and out of character. I won’t be sending my children to the new school if this goes ahead. I would like to know why when I checked the progress of this application a year and a half or so ago in the council website it showed as “withdrawn” and all of the sudden this year it is approved and no notification was sent to the community for submissions. Big question about the approval process. Also a message to the MP: understand they have pressures to deliver affordable housing. However, if this is not properly planned with all considerations taken into the account, there will be major long term impacts to the community.

  21. Concerned citizen commented

We are really concerned about his development. The population that may use this housing has the possibility to pose risks to the atmosphere and safety of the area. I have 3 very young children and this development would overlook my backyard. It is also right across the road from the public school. As residents we understand the need for affordable housing- but we also have the right to be concerned about the safety, atmosphere and value of the property that we have purchased. Please give this some more consideration.

  22. James commented

We are opposed to this type of development so close to the school and parks. I think it is very clear public sentiment is against this proposal. If this goes ahead it will be a very bad look and I will definitely be contacting the media. Please reconsider.

  23. Sally commented

I think affordable housing is an essential part of living in a community minded country.

People who need a hand up in life due to various life circumstances, often outside their control should not be shipped off to less desirable areas just because a few people think their house value is more important than the value of their fellow countrymen.
And yes, even if these people end up being those who are transitioning back into society after serving a custodial sentence, they also have every right to live somewhere. Our laws say that once you have served your time, you have every right to rejoin society.

The hysteria shown in the comments above is shameful and a sad reflection on the residents of the area.

Taking the attitude of “not in my backyard” is abhorrent and it saddens me that this is the message they are teaching their children.

I hope this development goes ahead and it becomes a model for low cost housing intergration in suburbs all around Australia.

  24. Sanchita Desai commented

Hills Council please take notice of the concerns we have regarding this development as many residents are STRONGLY opposed to the construction of a boarding house on Fairway drive. This was approved in 2011 when the area demographics were very different to what it is today.
My main concern as a parent is the close proximity to a primary school. As this is privately owned and privately certified , it will not be regulated. There could be sexual predators, crime and congestion across the road.

  25. H & H commented

This should be stopped.Fairway Drive is conjested enough. The Council should concider the Children as well as the Retirees. Why did no one get informed? We strongly oppose this Development.

  26. Abhishek Bansal commented

Council should reconsider the approval granted in 2011. Fairway drive is already very busy and cannot support more traffic. Increased traffic also impacts safety around a public school.

The approval for school didn’t consider the possibility of a boarding house so close to the premises. Having a boarding house next to a school is not safe.

I m very much opposed to this development.

  27. C.and P commented

We object to the construction of a Boarding House on Fairway Drive for two reasons:
    1) As many others have said, the fact that there will be a primary school in such close proximity to the Boarding House, makes this quite inappropriate. Council DOES need to consider the safety of the children in their community!
    2) Like it or not, residents in this vicinity built or purchased a home in this area and DID pay a lot more than in low socio-economic area! For most of us it is the most expensive purchase that we will make in our lifetime and we DO have the right to protect the atmosphere and status of the area in which we have made our home. Like most others, we chose to live in this area so that our kids could be safer than in lower socio-economic areas where the crime rate is higher,; we want to give them a certain standard and lifestyle that is commensurate with the price/economics of this area! If we wanted to live in an area that has Boarding Houses with a transient population we would NOT have chosen to live here!!! This Boarding House is being thrust upon we residents who have settled in to a quiet, peaceful and harmonious area and, quite simply, it is NOT FAIR!! to us!

  28. Louise Reynolds commented

We are concerned about the proposal for boarding houses for singles to built on Fairway Drive. This is a family centred community. The total lack of communication about this proposal from the Council is appalling. Even once residents became aware of the proposal getting information from Council has been difficult. Residents feel they have been deceived. When we did our searches before purchasing land or houses no one was told that boarding houses for singles were being built on Fairway Drive. Whilst we understand the need for public housing it needs to be closer to public services and infrastructure and not in the middle of a suburban family focussed community. I am very concerned about the safety of my children being around transient people who possibly maybe ex criminals, drug addicts etc.

  29. Samuel and Christina commented

I would urge council to re-evaluate this boarding house proposal more holistically based on new approved and recent developments in the area. The proximity to a primary school and aged care is absolutely less than desirable. In addition the lack of details around its use and any sort regulatory guidelines or controls is uncomforting. As a community I do believe we should give a hand up to people in need, and aid in transitioning back to society, but it demands better planning and oversight by the council; not simply in the approval of plan and putting it in the hands of a commercial operator whose primary intent is profit.

  30. Caterina Kidd commented

Under no circumstances will I allow a boarding school to be built just opposite the new school, where my children are to attend. I would not send my children there. Why is it that councils cannot do the right thing. This area is not suitable for a boarding school, and this was never in the plan. The streets are not designed to maintain that level of usage, nor is it the right area to have such a building. I don't get myself involved in many projects. But this will be one that I intend on fighting.

  31. Sarah Viney commented

As a resident of the area, I am gravely concerned about the congestion we already experience in the region and how much pressure this high density housing is going to put on our already struggling infrastructure. I’m also concerned about the type of people that will be taking up residence in these unit blocks, so close to a primary school. The powers that be can’t even guarantee that they will filter out the unsavoury people based on this. The DA was approved when the lots were still acreage - a lot has changed in this time and as such the DA should be reviewed. It’s a big no from me!

  32. BING LIANG commented

It is obviously wrong to proceed with such an out-of-date plan.
    1. the surrounding areas are already heavily jammed with large polulation growth - traffic jam

    2. would you put your kids and parents next to a BORDING HOUSE? Considering a primary school and the cranbrook aged care with more than 300 aged people will be there.

3.the land value of the BORDING HOUSE.

OVERALL, IT IS NOT FAIR FOR OUR HILLS COMMUNITY.

  33. Mr Billy Ng commented

This is a terrible idea to have such a development so close to a primary school and playground, especially for those that have to send their kids to above mentioned school.
