I have misgivings about any extension of smoking facilities given its deadly impact on health. Smoking is hard to give up because facilitating it for commercial gain seems to me immoral. I understand that people do get addicted - but why can't they leave the hotel to smoke? Also doesn't it increase carcinogen exposure for workers in the hotel and people close by. Making a smoking gaming area could also increase the attractiveness of the gaming machines. Am I the only one to question this application? Are patrons complaining about the lack of smoking? Who has said they will come if smoking is extended? The Hotel is now owned by the Balmain Pub Group - I don't know them but are they adopting this practice in all their hotels?
I would like you to record my opposition to this application although I will watch the discussion to see if I could be wrong

Great idea. Smoking as far as I know, is not illegal. Not everyone wants to smell or see others smoking for their own reasons, so its a good idea. Any alteration should take into account the residents who live in Park Street, and how any alteration at the hotel will impact on the comfort of the people living in their home, with particular attention to noice from the hotel and its patrons.
