I know it’s too late...this is a done deal. I’m disappointed that a pub of all things is going to be built here. The RSL is across the other side of the park! This park is a haven for families and very unique in an ever expanding Cronulla.
I’m just very, very sad that soon Cronulla is going to lose its heart and soul for ever.

Please could you put the brakes on after this? Please please please don’t let Cronulla become a Surfers Paradise. The little seaside town and its links with the past is what people come to visit. Big pubs, big buildings, big problems we don’t want!

So disappointed with you all. 😭

As a long term local resident, local business owner and frequent visitor to this park with my family, I oppose in its current form as well as the application to increase the FSR.

    More specifically:
    - Traffic into Cronulla is already unmanageable with traffic trying to get into Cronulla frequently backed up as far as Woolooware Road in the Burraneer Bay entrance, and to Gannons road on the Kingsway. This new development will create additional traffic and congestion both while it's being developed and given the limited parking and exacerbate the traffic issues associated with an existing well known bottleneck.
    - this a historically important park that myself and my children love spending time in, with beautiful Winter sunshine and underneath the historic fig trees in Summer. The proposed development will significantly reduce the amount of light and sunshine to the park and per your arborists report, put the fig trees at risk.
    - This is overdevelopment in its true form - there are vacant apartments throughout Cronulla with more being built, several empty storefronts right throughout Cronulla which can not be filled and commercial properties in Taren Point, Caringbah and Miranda (including shared office spaces) which are also vacant and likely to be even less in demand as Sydneysiders increasingly move to working from home or a hybrid working from home approach, and the Sutherland Shire target for number of residential properties has already been met.

There is simply not the demand for this type of property which would warrant the loss of a valued community space, create permanent traffic issues or justify the disruption to local residents. We need the council and our elected representatives to reflect the many thousands of community voices to scale back this development and increase demands on the builder re: parking, tree protection, loss of sunlight and removal of Pub proposal.

138-144 Cronulla St Cronulla To Whom it May Concern, RE : MONRO PARK PROPOSAL I am writing this email in regard to the planning proposal for 138-144 Cronulla Street Cronulla, which I’m very much oppose in it’s current form and also the application to increase the FSR. Those fig trees are over 80 years of age and should be preserved. We have heard on good authority that the arborist report in “Not” correct..... the loss and damage being done would be devastating to this heritage Park and the surroundings I have also heard There is going to be an independent arborist report done.... so we will get to see and independent view.... The many residents I have spoken to are very very concerned about the sight of this development.....the seven levels, plus extra bulk from the added FSR they are asking for, will have a extreme adverse impact on the park and it’s surroundings. Not only from the 24% loss of the sun on the most used part of the park, but it will also affect the entire ambience of the park..... how can the LEP suddenly been allowed to change For this developer...... I’m completely confused as to why this site was changed to 25m in the 2015 LEP, what is the explanation for that??? The limited access from the one-way Surf Lane which is already clogged with traffic from the existing residential and commercial properties, it is used also as a thoroughfare by the general public trying to get through the nightmare of Gerrale Street and Cronulla street. This proposal also mentions the usage of a number of floors for food and beverage purposes with the proposed licensee of Feros Ltd; who run pub-like establishments with sport bars, gambling and long hours of trade. This kind of establishment would be completely unsuitable to this site. There are residential properties to the east and the very sensitive heritage memorial park to the south, which also includes the alcohol-free zone walkway from the train station to the west which links to the beach at the east of this property as well. This area is the gateway for visitors coming into Cronulla from public transport which adds to the sensitivity of this area. The area at the moment is low key cafes and eateries, which attract families and the elderly to enjoy the park for all its glory therefore putting a large building to the north would destroy that. The proposal is for 7 levels of Commercial use only. As with many other establishments that serve alcohol in Cronulla, there has been a lot of anti-social behaviour. We have had issues with fighting, patrons urinating and vomiting around these premises. What a debacle it would be for this to happen on the much loved and used Monro Park. Every week there are flowers left at the War Memorial, how devastating it would be for in the future families came to visit and show their respect to a loved one only to find the gardens trashed and the monument stinking of urine & vomit. Since Covid the demand for office space has declined dramatically. Seeing over 50% is proposed for office space it would be even more devastating if in the future they turned more of that percentage to the pub-like premises to make building viable, or worse still to standard residential living. They have not allowed enough car spaces in the current proposal, let alone if it changed to residential....where are all the cars going to park? The congestion in the small one-way lane from brewery trucks or delivery trucks will be another negative impact to all that use the lane. It is why personally I do not understand the council changing THIS property to 25 metres in the last 2015 LEP. It makes no sense. The property has so many reasons that are clearly apparent as to why this should not be. This proposal has the potential to destroy the mature fig trees, the existing Heritage Memorial park, the sensitive walkway from train station to beach, the total ambience of the entire area and the congestion to the laneway. We are in an area of ageing population ..... This property would be much better served to the entire community if made into an aged care home of no more than four levels.. Restaurants, coffee shops and other retail on the ground floor that can be enjoyed by the aged care home and the families that frequent the park and also the public who walk from the train to the beach.... and also community Toilets..!
Very very sad.....! That this continuing overdevelopment is destroying cronulla and our beautiful way of life...... living in south cronulla I cannot imagine how stressful it’s going to be for our future....just moving around......!!!

I would like to see priority given to this beautiful and unique quarter of Cronulla.
An area which will embrace its uniqueness, an extension of the park. A safe, family friendly environment. One of high standards in every way. One that will enrich the culture of Cronulla.
There is nowhere like it in any other seaside village along NSW coast and it’s time to realise that and implement an appropriate approach with intelligence and community planning.
A perfect little redevelopment that all residents can admire, be part of and proud of. Some thing that Mr and Mrs Munro would be proud of. An establishment that will enhance their contribution to our dear little part of the world.
Something like Cronulla...something enduring and unique.
I think it’s time to stop the thoughtlessness and wake up...please!

Please leave this little piece of land alone. Why do we have to fight for things that were put there for communities to enjoy. Why do these spaces have used by dates. Why do we have to always have to point out numerous times by petition or comments that some things need to left alone. Why do we have to ask the people we vote in to look after our opinions, to only have them ignored apparently. Tell me how this construction will actually benefit me and the community. There are already pubs, eateries and the like that I can go to. Not so many open spaces like this park for the community to enjoy. Let's for a change leave it alone. You have already over developed all of Miranda, Kirrawee and Sutherland. Infrastructure can't cope already, the shire doesn't need any more high rise, particularly were it is being proposed. Let the community win this one and find another piece of land to build your modern building on which by the way will never have enough parking catered for so there will be overflow street parking again but that's another issue. My hope is that common sense breaks the greed sense and the right decision will be made. You can dream can't you.

I was standing in Monroe Park at 5:45am on April 25th (ANZAC DAY) in front of our elected representatives Prime Minister Scott Morrison and state Attorney General Mark Speakman, and council officials. Light ,of dawn started to filter in from over the shops at the northern end of the park. I thought, in a few years this park, a memorial to our fallen, will be still in shadow all winter. This proposed gross over-development is an insult to us all. Who would vote for anyone who supported this?
"I WOULD LOVE TO HELP BUT ITS NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY" WILL BE THEIR REPLY. IT WAS NOT MY TEENAGE FATHERS RESPONSIBILITY TO FIGHT THE ENEMY IN NEW GINEA. IT WAS HIS DUTY.
Nobody wants this to go ahead ,except the developer. We live in a blue ribbon liberal seat and we are being let down by those we elected.. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a disgrace. Please do something: step up like our diggers. Stop our memorial park being overshadowed.
Our elected officials, please DO YOUR DUTY. Do nothing and you should all hang your heads in shame.

I totally agree with Charles Stanborough and with all the comments above. We moved to South Cronulla from the East and North about 5 years ago why? because we have a dear friend that lives in the area for many many years and recommended to us to move here we liked the area since my husband was coming to scuba dive and had a knowledge of the area its quite and close to all the amenities near by. The first two years were a nightmare since the State Government change the rules on the selling of the old buildings that haven't been maintained and little that we knew that our building was for sale and its a well maintained building we just moved in and we had to move again!, but by luck the sale didn't eventuate. Since then we have seen elderlies moved out of their homes whether they owned or not some of them couldn't afford removalist moving out in plastic bags by train, mothers having to change their children to another school just because the building was sold to a developer. It's a big disappointment when politicians lets us down that way. They keep in saying stay in your home when older if you don't want to go to a nursing home what if they sell the building where do you get a unit below a million in the area no hope. Property values have no stop and no one does anything about it. Since we came to the area the number of people that moved here and the congestion with the traffic is just unbelievable. Government giving money to built more and more high rising that is not infrastructure the shire is loosing its character bit by bit and very fast. Our only option is election time and I urge the residents in the shire to wake up and reject all these development and I repeat what Charles said above IF YOU DO NOTHING SHOULD ALL HANG YOUR HEADS IN SHAME. Built roads, schools, day care centers by all means INFRASTRUCTURE FIRST!

To continue with my comments above I was doing my routine walking yesterday and I just to encounter on of the workers in the building sites in South Cronulla and he updated me with the new rules applying to building that have been relax work on building sites can be done between 6.00am-6pm and the high of the buildings also relax they can built up to 10 fls. that was new to me no one update the residents of these changes that pay rates. Imagine the terrible inconvenience and noise that we have to tolerate for months or years maybe I also notice that the lovely trees that provide us with so much shade in the heat of summer and that we admire so much are going to go. What a shame! PLEASE, PLEASE SHIRE RESIDENTS SUPPORT THE PRESERVATION OF THOSE TREES THAT PROTECT US IN THE DAYS OF HEAT AND RAIN WE'LL NEVER SEE TREES LIKE THAT ANYMORE WHILE WE 'RE ON THIS EARTH. Look what happened in Anzac Parade in the East of Sydney they cut many trees more than 200 years. It's a big peace of concrete now. Lastly I have one more suggestion what about built a big hall whereby old and young mix and practice activities to keep us fit play games, instruments, music, dance etc.

To continue with the above comments while doing my routine walk yesterday I encounter one of the workers in one of the building sites in South Cronulla and he mentioned that the rules for building have been relax work hours 6.00am-6.00pm and height can go up to 10 floors. No one tells the rate payers of these changes. Just imagine the inconvenience and noise that residents have to tolerate for months or years ahead. I also learned that the lovely trees in the park that have been there for more that 200 years are going we as newcomers so much admire and they give us so much protection of the sun in summer and rain in winter people doesn't appreciate to have them until we loose them. We don't think Cronulla needs entertainment Cronulla needs INFRASTRUCTURE. SHIRE RESIDENTES PLEASE, PLEASE SHOW SUPPORT FOR THE PROTECTION AND PRESERVATION OF THE TREES AND PARK. Lastly one more suggestion what about built a big hall for young and old to mix that practice different activities to keep the residents fit like exercises, play games, instruments, music, dancing, etc.

Firstly, residents are already subject to daily noise and dust from present constructions. A change in working hours earlier in the morning and later in the evening would make life intolerable for us. Already our homes are subject to noise daily from never-ending unit construction - exterior doors and windows closed to block out dust, heavy trucks and excavation from continuous work. Secondly, leave us with a beautiful beach park and the lovely shady ancient trees. Do not touch!!

This development is not needed in cronulla. Please do not destroy Monro
Park by allowing an hotel to be built adjacent to it.
This park is enjoyed by so many older people and families who do not want to feel intimidated by noisy hotel patrons.
This development will change the whole atmosphere of this peaceful area of
    Cronulla.
