1/301 Old South Head Road Bondi Beach NSW 2026

Remove one (1) Canary Island Date Palm from front of property. This tree is planted within 3 metres of the main building; it has insufficient space to develop, and the potential to significantly damage the property. Remove one (1) Rubber Tree from side of house. This tree is positioned in an unsuitable location; the canopy is encroaching onto the neighbouring property, creating a safety hazard for the residents. Replace with two (2) local native trees. Remove one (1) Eucalypt from front.

    Hello Waverley Council.

There has been a significant number of applications to remove trees in Simpson Street during 2020. Should this application for the removal of trees be approved - is it possible to also have two/three suitable trees planted on the large empty nature strip infront of 1/301 Old South Head Road Bondi Beach NSW 2026 (Simpson Street Entrance)?

This will ensure ongoing tree coverage on the street.
    Thank you.

While reasons are given for removal of the canary palm and the rubber tree, none is given for the removal of the eucalyptus. This suggests that there is no case for the latter. I am also skeptical of the case cited for the palm destruction. These are not trees with the kind of roots, let alone branches that tend to cause structural problems. I understand the issues with the rubber tree.

This eucalyptus is fully grown and home to much wildlife. There needs to be a VERY good reason to remove a beautiful perfectly healthy tree apart from not liking leaves on your perfect front lawn. Removing this tree would be senseless sanctioned environmental vandalism.
