Please do not allow this native tree to be felled. It's a community asset. The Peninsula is losing too many trees, and getting uglier and hotter as a result. If we keep cutting down mature trees we'll seem have no shade and many fewer birds in our suburbs.

Birdwood Avenue Umina is one of the shadeless streets on the Peninsula. Council should encourage the owners to retain the tree.
The Peninsula is a coastal sand plain and is suffering the effects of urban heat bowl effects greater then 4 degrees in summer (as measured by Council) driven by over development. Therefore the retention of trees that offer shade is vital to the livability for the owners and the rest of us.

The Angophora Floribunda is a very important habitat tree here on the Peninsula.

Can the owners please consider retaining the tree?

If it is impossible to retain it, it is important that the tree is replaced with another substantial tree that is local to the area. This is also a requirements under SEPP rules.

Each time we lose one of these trees our ecosystem suffers, and it is happening daily.

    Thank you.

Please retain this tree. There may be some immediate inconvenience to retain it, but there are plenty of advantages to keeping it in situ and working around any inconveniences. Removing it is not a necessity. Replacing it with equal worth is a lot of effort which realistically wont happen immediately without it being committed to now. If it is to be removed, please commit now with a plan to replace it with equal or increased benefit.
