1. This building almost certainly contain a lot of asbestos. There are 17 residents in the 8 properties that adjoin this site and it is also directly opposite the playing fields of Waverley College. For the past 12 months, residents have been asking the council to request an independent assessment of the asbestos from the developers. Submissions with this same request were made when the DA was lodged. However, It would appear no special conditions have been attached to the approval and no assessment has been completed. For the buildings to be demolished without significant risk of asbestos contamination, the site needs to be independently assessed and the demolition carried out in accordance with the findings of the assessment.
