I am writing in regards to the development application at 19 Valda Avenue, Arncliffe NSW 2205. I understand that this development (Application Number DA-2019/88) is for an eight storey, 45 room “affordable” boarding house. As a resident and household in this street, I am concerned about the additional traffic movement in our street as well as an additional 90 tenants. It is also a concern of ours that the type of resident this development will attract could be people with substance issues, on parole etc. which could lead to increased crime and uncertainty in our street and suburb, as well as affecting the property value of our home. Increased traffic with a minimal amount of parking available for permanent residents will also be an issue. It is disappointing that the Rockdale Bayside Council could potentially approve a development such as this without consideration for residents and I firmly reject this application. We ask Rockdale Bayside Council to seriously reconsider and reject this development application proposal on behalf of the residents of Valda Avenue.

So I’ve been living in the area for just under a year and already within a kilometer radius of my property I’ve seen 4 proposed large scale boarding house developments be submitted to council.

My comment would be to simply note that the Arncliffe/Turrella/Wolli Creek area already has lots of high density development planned and that the mood of residents is that we don’t want anymore boarding houses than we already have.
