Boarding house is not suitable in the family-oriented suburb Chifley. Many schools are close to that house increases the potential risk of children. No enough public facility and commercials for boarding house.

  2. Belinda Caldwell commented

I strongly oppose to this especially if it is a halfway house for those who have recently been in jail.

This neighborhood is a family based community and I do not see this as safe or considerate to local residents.

Why is this going ahead? Is one half way house on Bilga cres not enough? There are so many schools and day cares close by. Pedophiles cannot be rehabilitated!!! What happened to protecting our children and letting the local community vote on these developments. I’m sure taxpayers are funding this so should be given the right to reject this place! It’s obvious their own families have rejected them so why should they be put in a nice area where people are spending millions of dollars to buy here?

  4. Samantha Serduk commented

As a local resident myself I strongly oppose! These houses are putting our children, women and families at high risk! There are too many schools, day cares and parks around the area which would be perfect targets for convicted pedophiles and perpetrators. Please help us keep our community safe by refusing such “housing”!

  5. Claudia Barbaric commented

Living local I strongly oppose to this housing going ahead. There is no need to put our children at risk of pedophiles walking freely in the area with so many daycares, parks and schools. Our kids won’t be safe. Please reconsider this for the safety of our families.

  6. Belinda Eather commented

I strongly oppose this development. I don’t want anymore pedophiles in our area walking freely so close to my children’s daycares and schools. There is already one on Bilga crescent which is one too many. There too many schools and daycares in the close proximity.

  7. Steve Vuletic commented

There is no such thing as rehabilitation for pedophiles once they are one there is no return !!
So many schools and Day cares in this close knit family area we don't want that here take them out where there are no family orientated areas !! Australia has plenty of land why give them luxury of coastal living !! Keep them out !!

  8. Emma Fyson commented

Myself and other close family and friends who live in and around the proposed place of development STRONGLY OPPOSE to this development. There are so many schools, preschools and daycares in the area and I will personally hold Randwick council accountable if any children are harmed!

  9. A serret commented

I reject this. Our community opposes the development of such a place making our local area unsafe

  10. Anastasia Troy commented

We strongly oppose the development of this kind. Our family orientated community deserve safety! Meters away from school, daycare and other child related associations, how can you not consider this as an issue when planning such development in the area?

  11. Stan Scholar commented

    This DA is outrageous!!!
Who in their right mind could come up with such idea?
    Strongly opposed.
There is no place for this kind of people in our community.
Randwick Council...show common sense ..and show care for your ratepayers .
    Reject this DA!!

  12. Melissa Fornasari commented

This would be terrible to have close by to so many schools. My family and I are strongly opposed to this happening here. I would defiantly make the area unsafe especially for children.

  13. N Rossini commented

My family and I strongly oppose this. I do not believe peodophiles can be rehabilitated. It has been proven too many times that they reoffend. I oppose having this in our community where there are lots of preschools and schools. Keeping our children and community safe should be a much higher priority for council than housing these people.

  14. Cindy commented

Where is the documentation outlining the intention of this boarding house use. Can someone please provide a link?

  15. Lynne commented

This is outrageous, this is a family area full of local schools, daycares and parks. We have just moved to the area and l would have had second thoughts if l knew about this! These pedophiles have been proven to reoffend. Why would the council even think about exposing young children to this risk??! Do we have to wait for something bad to happen before you will reconsider? Will you have this hang over your head, when clearly not one resident in this area supports this!?!! Where is our rights? Our children rights to walk freely and safely in their neighborhood. I will not allow them to ride in the area now nor will l sleep with ease knowing they are so close. I am just so utterly shock that no consideration has been put in place for the children of the area who have no voice in this. Why don't you house them in areas of elderly people away from children. WE ABSOLUTELY AND STRONGLY OPPOSE THIS....WHERE IS YOUR PRIORITY???!

  16. Cindy commented

My earlier question .... Where is the documentation outlining the intention of this boarding house use. Can someone please provide a link ... was answered by saying to look at the comments. Can you please highlight EXACTLY where it says who this is going to accommodate. How can we oppose without evidence? I’m all against having paedophiles in our area, especially when you look at what happened yesterday with a 7 year old .... our children are at risk anyway and we don’t need to heighten that risk. If this is meant to house paedophiles, I’m totally against it.

There is NO place for a half-way house in our community. This area is very family focused with young children residing. It is also to be very near several schools. REALLY??? Someone thought this was a good place to house people straight out of gaol. Absolutely, there is NO place for paedophiles in our community. Randwick Council act in the best interest of your constituents and stop this ludicrous plan.

  18. Sebastian commented

I oppose this DA. There is no place for a half-way house in our community. This area is very family focused with young children residing. It is also very near many schools, day cares and kids parks. I will be horrified if this is approved and strongly oppose!!

  19. Dawn commented

We, as a community should prioritise keeping our children safe and I do not believe another half way house in the area is in the best interest of our kids security. Please don’t approve this DA.

  20. Sue M commented

In regards to this DA the community need to be consulted and there needs to be rules around WHO is able to reside there? A boarding house? A halfway house? Which is it! Get the truth out!👌🏼

I heard about this development and the negative comments at church. I have lived nearby all my life and want to say I support such development.

My comment is to the neighbours and other commenters more than council:
Boarding houses can be good things that help our community. Show some charity.

My grandfather seperated from my grandmother because he wanted to be near his family in Sydney and she didn't.

He couldn't afford rent and really struggled. He was helped by a lovely couple who ran a boarding house in Kensington, near UNSW until eventually he got himself a housing commission place on Bilga Cres shortly before he died. I treasure the memories I have and I am eternally grateful to the boarding house that helped him.

I remember with fondness all the other people there: the young unni students who always took the time to check on him; the older elderly singles who adopted me as a extra granddaughter. Myself and my brothers never felt scared or anxious (unlike in later years catching the bus alone to visit him on Bilga Cres).

As a school teacher now, I wish more of my students were able to have such positive influences in their lives. I wish we had more boarding houses if the let children's grandparents and family be near them to help. I know - from - unfortunate experience that it is not boarding house "pedos" you should fear... but the struggling friends and family of abused children.

Many times in life I've regretted the things I've said without thinking. But I've never regretted the things I said nearly as much as the words I left unspoken. Hope it is ok to write my thoughts here because I want to help re focus conversations on to what is actually real and important. A boarding house is NOT a half way house at all.

I disagree with every view here, we are not living in the beginning of the last century anymore. Pedophiles, l very much doubt any single one of you would be aware of a pedophile living in your midst, and, you're all thinking heard mentality. Why don't you consider victims of domestic rape, consider those women of domestic violence, elderly women who make up a large proportion of homeless due to the lack of pay equality and superannuation! Don't assume it's just certain type of men, down and out vagrants or just out from goal either, there are so many homeless people on the streets, GOOD PEOPLE, victims of circumstances, that are waiting for accomodation but the government are so far behind public housing supply. It's going to take private investors to fill this void. There are GOOD people out here, look around at this city, at the boarding houses, 'legit boarding houses' go visit some, find out who is actually living in these places, go talk to LEGIT boarding room owners.
