The area that they are proposing a place of worship in this address should not proceed as the area is a quiet residential area, Having a place of worship with a schedule of worship more than once a week will create a lot of issues with traffic and parking problems for the residents.

The area is already busy during school peak due to nearby kindergarten school and anglican church and reitirement village. Please consider the additional population added by having a place of worship in this corner of tavistock and king georges road.

I am not in favor of this new development in our area.

Hope the council will consider the above scenario.

    Thanks

  2. Will commented

This new development is not a favor of local community.

As this this area is alrady busy, the worship will add more noise and affect residence around this area.

We are strong against to this plan

  3. Frank Martin commented

Kogarah City Council needs to take a good hard look at its priorities.

Housing shortages are spiralling out of control in Sydney and we look to our councils more than ever to provide sensible solutions in creating new residential opportunities in the way of homes for Australians and immigrants, not replace them with institutions, religious or otherwise.

If creating more homes is high on Kogarah City Council's agenda then how can this possibly go ahead?

Is this a case of profit before people?

  4. Frank Sullivan commented

This planning proposal doesn't suit the existing environment and may never be. The area's demographic situation doesn't support the proposal either

  5. Yue Citizen commented

It is too crowded for nowadays Hurstville, and their worship would pose a serious threat to the normal life of the recidents. We respect their religious custom, but , please consider the environmental, public and demographic problems cautiously.

In a word, we strongly against this project, and hope the govenment can reconsider this issue. Thanks!

The traffic congestion is already very bad around the proposed site.
There are two pre schools and one retirement village around it.
To access to the site, prayers will have to take the Mall and Connells Point Rd. The Connells Point Public School is located on Connells Point. And IGA is also located on the same street. We are experiencing heavy traffic everyday and can't afford to have more traffics.

I strongly suggest the council rethink about the development proposal. It is not suitable in our local area.

3: huge noise problem for Mosque especially 7 days a week!

This location of this proposed site is not suitable for the area. A place of worship, benefiting people who have their faith is good, however, in consideration of the surrounding and especially the residences of the area isn't the best choice of location. Higher flow of traffic, both automobiles and people, increase noise, garbage and waste disposal and management, pest and hygiene control, and specifically safety and security for both worshippers and local residents.

Although take in account of both side, I believed that the benefits are only impacting a smaller size of community, especially where majority of the worshippers/visitors are from outside of local area. This proposal, however, is affecting our local area negative much more than benefiting. Hence I strongly suggest the Council to consider this proposal with high cautions, as the result may lead a strong discouragement to the local residents and communities, and ultimately relocating. Losing the healthy, peaceful, and wealthy community as to now.

  10. Ben commented

Traffic will be much worse and no parking will be chaos

  12. Citizens commented

The traffic is so bad now, and we want a quiet place to live.

  13. Henry Yu commented

I am against this develoent because of the five sessions of prays everyday from early morning to late evening will creat constantly adverse impact on the quiet neighbourhood. Such new place of worship should only be built in a remote area, far away from densely populated residential neighbourhood area.

South Hurstville area is very important business district in Sydney. If the big change in this area like crowded traffic we will see the local basement people will move out quickly. Don't lost all of us we love here!

  15. John commented

Hurstville got large population. If someone are going to build another temple, the traffic jam will be much worse and the car space will be not enough for the local people! Thank you!

  16. Carrie chen commented

This proposal is not suitable for the local area. It has two local schools and a retirement centre. It will be too noisy for the local people to live in.

    I strongly disagree!

  17. Chao Bi commented

South Hurstville is already a traffic hotspot, so not really suitable for a 7 day worship place. I also believe a worship place shouldn't be built if most local residents disagree.

  18. Hai ZHAO commented

This area's traffic is very bad already. We do not want more cars parking in this area.

  19. Wendy commented

This area has become extremely busy & crowded in last few years. It is supposed to be a quiet residential area and I don't think the worship is suit for this area. Especially it plans to run 7 days a week from really early morning to late evening. There are primary school & childcare facilities in this area. Could Kogarah City Council please think about the current residences in this area?

  20. Peter Wu commented

I strongly against this DA application. For such a Mosque/worship, it should be located far away from residential areas. The Mosque/worship will provide very enconvenience to the local residents. The traffic will be very busy, the cars will be parking on the streets surounding the Mosque/worship, that will make the busy parking streets even worse and worse. The local residents will not be able to find a parking in the streets after the Mosque/worship is openned. The Mosque/worship will generate big noise to the local residents. The properties value will be decreased dramatically after the building of such a Mosque/worship.

  21. Cooky commented

According to the huge population in Hurstville area, I don’t think is a good decision to build the temple. At the same time, it will increase the traffic pressure on King Georges Road. We should consider bringing back the proper living environment to the local people instead of pushing them to move out their current area.

    - Should be located far away from residential areas

  23. Ping commented

We definitely do not agree for them to construct. I believe you guys all know King George Road is too busy every day, too many trucks on the road, always get traffic jam there , it is even worse during the peak time, we really can't stand it. There are so many kids and elder people live there, they need safe, peace , Not noisy, crowd, traffic jam etc. southern suburbs are already so crowded. Please recommend them to build a bit farther, to build in country , there will be lot of vacant land for them and it is quite for them. Or recommend them to build in Northern or Eastern suburb as those areas are not as busy as Southern Suburb . Thank you.

  24. C Cheng commented

The area is already busy with traffic jam getting worse everyday. Having a few hundred people come and go 7 days a week will severely disturb local people's life. Strongly oppose this application.

It is insane to put the mosque in a residential area. An industrial area will be more suitable, this way residents will not be disturbed in the early morning hours and parking will not be a problem.

My commuity are very curious that why only quite a few residents received this proposal with giving such a shorter notice. Especially in this holiday season, lots people go to holiday. They may not have a chance to say "no" to this project before it get approved. Consider the amount of muslim people in our area, is it on your top priority to build it using tax payers money? Of course this will attacts muslim from other suburbs. And of course the traffic jam on the road will get worse than never. And the noise pollution within construction work and from the prayers everyday will cause health issue to local residents. In the long run, we cannot see it will bring better community for us.

I we strongly against this project, and hope the govenment can reconsider this issue.

  32. Grace Fung commented

I strongly against this proposal. South Hurstville and nearby suburbs are peaceful and quiet residential area. The traffic of Conells Point Road, King Georges Road and The Mall are busy enough especially during school peak hours. How many people in South Hurstville have benefit from this proposal? People attend this Mosque are mostly from other suburbs. It's not worth to approve this proposal to harm the benefits and harmony of local residents.

  33. Pergo Mattio commented

South Hurstville and surrounding suburbs are very sophisticated residencial area, we have many many lovely young kids running around and also a lot of respectful senior citizens living in these areas. Othet than the very busy king George road, we are enjoying our safty, quiteness and peace. We can't afford the heavy traffic due to the new constructions of the mosque, which is expected to facilitate over 30,000people! Who is going to pay for the cost if some aged people could not get on the ambulance in presures time because of our residence roads been blocked by the terrible traffic? How can we relax if our kids have no more playing spaces in front of our House due to double parking? How about the noise? would you like to cope with the noise start from 3am while you still in sleep till night time? I would definitely say no!

  34. Sisi commented

Should not carry on this project as this is quiet residential area. We want to keep the area simple, quite and safe at all time.

  35. Aaron Huang commented

Hurstville is getting too crowded and complicated these days, we can't afford to have this huge building in our residential area, noisy, even worse traffic and also potential safety issue. We definitely say NO to this project.

  36. Sophie commented

I'm a Catholic and I'm against the plan as it is not in line with my belief. It will also create anxiety to my children as they all go to Catholic schools. Besides the personal reason, Hurstville area is already very crowded and even hard to find parking during week days. A mosque is going to bring more crowd and traffic to the area. There are at least 3 high-rises being built at the moment and will bring at least another 2-3000 people to the area. Besides, I can't image how a Chinese dominated suburb could get along with Muslim society.

  37. Sandy commented

We do not think that constructing a place of worship at 849 King Georges Road, South Hurstville is a good idea.

This location is very close to the intersection of Connells Point Road and King Georges Road (A3) and the intersection of Price High Way (A1) and King Georges Rd (A3). As you may know, many apartments/townhouses have been built recently around the neighbourhood. We are worried that any new church (or mosque, or temple etc.) of this nature might make existing heavy traffic condition even worse. Unless it could provide hundreds of new parking spaces, the proposed building will simply use up all streets parking around it. Moreover, it is close (< 1km) to the major parks in Kogarah council, Carss Bush Park and Poulton Parks (peters). It is also close to Hurstville South Public School (around 1km).

We really need a peaceful and safe living environment!

  38. Mike Young commented

Building a Mosque in South Hurstville is either absurd or insidious as such proposal either completely ignores the demographic of the surrounding area or intentionally attempt to invading the cultural diversity of this area. I strongly disagree and recommend the applicants to submit their application to a more appropriate area with high Muslims population density.

  39. D Brent commented

I fully oppose this Masjid application. A Masjid is owned by Allah and can never be sold or demolished. By denying this application you are not denying people their right to worship as they can do this in a Musalla. (not owned by Allah).
A Masjid is not just a "church" this is the centre of their ideology and its an ideology that is not a good fit for a democratic nation such as Australia.
Currently there is 38 mosque proposals in australia in NSW and this many already built in NSW https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.708769922569516.1073741833.670842106362298&type=3
I fully support every muslims right to pray in a musalla but Australia has a right to not support the islamic ideology and the mosque which is at the centre of it.

  40. S WU commented

the traffic of the area is already bad. Not many local goes to the mosque. it will cause so much noise and traffic. why not build a mosque in those area who have large population of Muslim

  41. Lu Cao commented

This is a residential area and the construction of the mosque will bring absolute change to the community and seriously affecting the residents nearby. 1. It is a busy area already closing to Hurstville and the increased amount of people accessing this area would deteriorate the traffic condition and cause dangers to the seniors and kids. Parking would be not possible on the streets due to non spots available. 2. The mosque will bring large amount of people from other areas which is a big security concern to the residents due to big number of people from other areas accessing the local area. 3 The noise and pollution caused by worshipping would totally ruin the life of the residents nearby. 4. The possible conflict and behavioural issue raised by the construction of the mosque would affect the peace of the residential community.( Eg: Residents complaining about the noise and being affected not resolved could be escalated to bigger issues).

  42. M.A. commented

From the documents submitted to council:

Noise Assesment 150661-01L-DD Rev01 indicates that approximately 260 worshippers / students will be on site on Friday at 1pm.

Traffic Assesment 15.418 indicates that 76 worshippers / students will be onsite on Fridays at 1pm.

Obviously the real impact on traffic to the local area has been underestimated significantly. The traffic assesment should be reviewed and corrected according to the true number of worshippers / students that will be on site.

  43. Yu Feng commented

The proposed structure will causes terrible traffic condition in the local area. Besides, the small amount of street parking places is not compatible with the large capacity of the structure. It will also cause significant disturbance to the life of local residents due to the noise generated seven days a week.

Overall, I am strongly against this building plan, I hope that Kogarah council could listen to our voices and reject the proposal.

  44. Joe commented

If Council is insensitive to existing RATE PAYERS and decides to allow another jihad recruitment centre, make SURE no external speakers are allowed. NO noise should be heard from the boundary of the property.

Too many Islamic meeting centres and mosques in Sydney already and for a population of 2.2% Australia wide there can not be any need for any more. They are making applications to build massive centres in small country towns where there may only be 50 or 100 Mulsims this can not be tolerated in a predominantly Christian society.
A building of this type on this main road would lead to congestion and accidents. It would also be a eyesore and would not blend with the current structures which are mainly domestic homes. A mosque would inflict fear into the population as it is well known that extremists frequent such buildings and they also harbour hidden firearms etc.
Please take into consideration the safety and peace of mind of your long term ratepayers and their families. My elderly aunt and my cousins live near the proposed site and are very concerned and alarmed for their future safety and security if this goes ahead.

I opposed to the plan of building a mosque at King George Rd, south hurstville. Firstly it will increase traffic congestion at this already busy road, less parking space for local residents. The hours it operate will be a noise problem as well. I strongly do not believe building a mosque at this suburb will benefit the community at large and does not promote Kogarah council rezoning plan to accommodate increase population. majority in this suburb are non Muslims and don't need a mosque here, as there already so many near by.. penshurst, arncliffe, etc. It also may affect devaluation of the properties in this suburbs, which we save hard earn money to buy a property here because it peaceful, nice quite, less crime and safe. A construction of this type is highly inappropriate for this location, it being on the intersection of a major thoroughfare and a quiet residential street. In addition the loss of amenity it will cause for the occupiers of the townhouse development right next door will be great as activity will occur before first light through out the year (at times before 5am) and until well after dark. The distinct lack of parking in the area should exclude its use for this type of development.

  67. Danny commented

This land position is very close to kindergarten and a nursing home, this area is already very busy at the rush hours, to have a mosque at this place and open will bring lots of traffic and noise issues to this quite residential area.

  68. Dave commented

I was shocked when I heard that council will consider the application of construction of worship in this quiet and peaceful residential area. This will extremely bring unexpected noise to the neighbors especially to the young children in the preschool and elders in the nursing home. The worst of the worst is to cause traffic problem in these busy streets around this location. I am worrying that this will also cause disturbance to the established multicultural society and may potentialise the conflict ion of local residents with strangers coming to the worship from other suburbs.
    I strongly object this application!

  69. Mengke Li commented

There are two kindergarten schools and one Anglican church in the nearby street The Mall. There is also a retirement village. The parking in this area is already very tight. Having a worship in this address will make the traffic and parking even worse.

Due to the DA, the worship expects to open in 3:30 am during summer time. I believe that this will create unnecessary noise to the nearby residents.

The other thing I would like to make clear is that I have never received any notification of this development from council. I heard from this development through As a resident who lives in the nearby street and I believe this development will affect my life and I should be notified.

I object to this development and hope the council will consider my opinion.

  70. Ling commented

It is unnecessary to build such a mosque in South Hurst villa because it does not serve most of the local residents. On the contrary, it can cause a lot of trouble to the community. Firstly, traffic will be a big problem. The condition is already bad around the proposed site and it takes long time to get through the traffic light during peak hours. It can not be tolerated for more cars to come into the area and traffic congestion will be much worse if the mosque is built. Secondly, noise is another problem. Long hour sevice of the mosque may bring a large number of people in and out of the area, and you can imagine the noise will be very bad for the nearby residents. It will be very disturbing. Thirdly, safety can be an issue. Too many people come into the area, who can promise everyone behaves themselves? Thief, robbery even violence can become a daily worry for the local residents.
As the proposed mosque is not able to bring any benefit to majority of the community, why we need it? I do not I will agree with the proposal.

  71. Z. Ellen commented

This new development is absolutely not a favor of local community.

The traffic is bad enough, and please take a look at this 'Noise Assesment 150661-01L-DD Rev01 indicates that approximately 260 worshippers / students will be on site on Friday at 1pm.' It will affect the people nearby and of course, parking will be worse then.

Please do consider the local residents. We strongly against this project, and hope the government can reconsider this issue.

Building specialized religious place won't help local community. We don't need this kind of church or mosque any more. We need more parks for children to play, more schools for teens to learn. Please consider donate those money to poor people in need of shelter instead.

  76. Zhihua Hu commented

I really don't think it's a good idea. Reasons are:
1: Traffic and car park will be a big problem.
2: I don't see the benefit to local residents.
3: Apart from that, the noise will be a disaster to the quite local community.

Please don't build this in my lovely home.

  77. Maggie Hou commented

My concern is safety problem it may cause. The size of the place of worship would attract large amount of people from outside of the suburbs as there is not many muslin people in local area. Students live in this area walk to the bus station along the King George Road and travel around. As a mother/auntie of two high school girls, I would not feel safe anymore to let them to walk around by themselves when there would be a big crowd of people come in and out of our suburb all day long, day and night.

  78. Jim Green commented

I strongly object to the worship located in this area. The reasons are following:

People feel huge panic by hearing the establishment of worship in this area, because most of them does't belong to that specific group, and we have free right to guarantee our local community safety.

This area has become multi-cultural and more diverse and commercialized by the settlement of more clever, friendly and business-focusing people. There is high likelihood that the worship can suspend the positive development tendency and local social commercial activities.

Residents living here prefer quiet living style and light weight traffic load. If the worship is constructed and opened to specific group, it definitely causes large traffic and community security issues in local region.

Most people tend to do business and live peacefully near Hurstville, and it continuously facilitates more commercialization level and community development. The worship in this area definitely would exclude people with no or mild religious belief from local community, causing the loss of mainstream culture and tradition, the demotion of local intellectuals and more occurrence rate of poverty and jobless.

To build stronger, wealthier, multi-cultural-friendly Australia, I strongly disagree that the worship establishment will be implemented in this area.

I expect local authority to take our suggestions very carefully.
Don't make any more mistakes, because most consequences caused by this are inreversible.

It is very simple why have to say no,I am scared.

I don't believe the local people will benefit from such a mosque by any means. It will create a series of problems for traffic, noise and safety. I can't imagine hundreds of people come to our street from 3:00 am and I personally woundn't annoy other people in such a way. I will say 'NO, NO, NO' to the proposal.

  86. Shu Lin commented

Such development would increase safety issues like more traffic, less parking, school nearby would also be impacted in relation to children's safety when traffic increased. Also surrounding households privacy has to be compromised due to the height of the proposed development. As a local resident I strongly oppose such development.

  91. Thomas commented

I strongly object to the Mosquebeing located in this area. The reasons are following:
1.Too many Islamic meeting centres and mosques in Sydney already and for a population of 2.2% Australia wide there can not be any need for any more.
2.The traffic in this area is already terrible & getting worse in recent years. Council should put more attention to the local residential needs instead of building a mosque to draw more traffic with in adequate parking aloted to facilitate the magnitude of another culture invading our quiet neighbourhood streets.
3.There are already 3 mosques nearby, which are located in Penshurst, Rockdale and Kogarah. Why another for Isamists who have to drive from another area.
    4. Is their an agenda? are we going to be recieving some of these refugees being sent to Australia to live in hurstville? If so I cannot believe that they would assimmilate with the current demographics predominately Christian Society.
    5. D. Riley commented 2 days ago
How many Masjids and Musallahs are needed? D.Riley also gave an extensive list of areas of where there already Mosques for these people to pray, some are already in close proxcimity to Hurstville.
    6. travelling to and from on this very busy road we don't require any more frustrations with more unnecessary traffic congestion.
    7. Mosques it is proven, breed radicle Islamists, I care for our communities safety.
8.Radicle Islamists are working towards:To destroy Western Civilisation and remake it in their own respective images. Who are working to also transforming our once - free republic into a socialist, Third World dictatorship ruled by a Sharia ideological government and zero representation to Australias Christian society. The Moslem faith have their own language and culture and progressive islamists are already hijacking public policy from national defence to immigration to education. Through Federal,State and local community governmental departments.
    8. We have a right to guarantee local community safety and to be assured that council is listening to the rate payers who you work for and must listen to their concerns and objections.
    9. Having up to 250 people from other areas descend like a plague of locusts (Locusts are the swarming phase of certain species) and interrupt a peaceful neighbourhood at un healthy hours night and day is not acceptable for the health, safety and general well being of existing community.
    10. I am objecting to this application and would like to see better use for this land for the local community. (suggestion).Perhaps a medical centre would be more appropriate.

  92. Marie B. commented

I do not agree with the building of this mosque in Hurstville or any other mosques throughout Australia. Muslims & Islam is an ideology completely different to western culture & this will only bring more divide between the people of Australia. Mosques have been well documented as being a place for hate preaching against western beliefs & its people. Government, councillors, mayors have a responsibility to look after its pre existing citizens of Australia & follow their wishes. I don't consider Muslims as citizens of Australia, as they will not swear an alligence to Australia on our bible, but will only swear on their Quran, which is an alligence to Allah & the teachings of Mohamad. This is a Christian country, but Islam is taking over. This needs to stop.

There've been enough developments in the Hurstville, Sth Hurstville areas, but infrastructures haven't been kept up. There are schools near by, it's frustrated enough to drive kids to and from schools everyday. Please don't add more frustration by building a worship place like this.

Let's keep South Hurstville a residential area, and a safe one for kids.

  95. Emily commented

Local residents will be directly impacted by the proposed development due to increased passing traffic and increased noise as the majority of visitors to the proposed mosque/education centre will need to drive along my street to access it’s entrance/car park, which is on Tavistock Road.

  96. Sharon commented

There is not any good for the neighborhood around, as the it deteriorate the traffic condition and the noise will severely affect the people living around and the increasing number of people living around this area.

  97. Sharon T commented

It is me to will to voice my opposition to the building application.

Not only will this create a negative impact from increased traffic and noise in the area, it will bring uncertainty to the community in general.

It is well documented that mosques are a potential breeding ground for extremist to enlist and radicalise followers. The domination and brainwashing of such radicals can turn troubled youths into the tools to propagate and feed the violence of extreme Islam.

Islamic schools and mosques around the world have been found to have been hijacked by extremist to further the violent caliphate.

Egypt has closed 55,000 mosques which have been found to be hiding arms and weapons and have direct links to terrorism.

    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/news/africa/7328-egyptian-authorities-close-55000-mosques

What was once a place of worship has been exploited by extremists as a source of recruitment and a hiding place for weapons.

While there is even the most remotest of possibilities, application for building mosques must be considered as a possible threat to the national security of all Australians, including moderate Muslims who are being exploited by extremists.

These links will confirm the use of mosques for hiding weapons

There are way to many mosques in Australia already. Please consider the rights and safety of those that have built this community. Areas degraded by moslem antics/behaviours are quickly deserted and converted into moslem gettos such as Bankstown/Lakemba.
Please respect the rights of Australians living in this area. Future generations have a right to a safe childhood.
There are multiple mosques in surrounding areas. Let them utilize these until the government have the fortitude to remove them.

  101. David Mordaunt commented

A mosque is not primarily a place of worship like a church or Synagogue. It is were Muslims conduct sharia courts , sharia finance , planning Jihad. Once Muslims get a mosque they begin praying out in the surrounding streets as an act of declaring Islamic Ummah for the area. Muslim countries like Egypt are closing Mosques because the govt there recognises the problems mosques bring. Then you have the traffic and parking issues that come with the large amount of Muslims that will come from all over Sydney to support theIslamifacation of the area.

  102. Gary Wang commented

Please DO NOT approve this project. King Georges Rd in South Hurstville is terribly congested during peak hours and it cannot accommodate several hundred prayers' car parking in nearby streets.

  103. Joan Charlton commented

No mosque should be built where there are schools nearby as islam main day of prayer is Friday. This will create noise and traffic which will affect children at nearby schools. This is not an appropriate area for a mosque.

  104. justin wyllie commented

Not all mozlims are terrorists, but mosques teach the koran, which states evil has a right to be committed against "non believers".

Do you lock your house and car doors at night??...if so, why, when almost nobody is a thief........... but most mozlims arent terrorists, so you're going to allow a mosque to teach terrorism anyway??

All mosques are a threat to australian freedom of lifestyle, whatever "culture" you're bought up in, Islam is a threat to it....

I am a very worried & extremely concerned resident directly affected by the proposal of a Mosque on the corner of King Georges Road and Tavistock Road South Hurstville. As a Kogarah Council rate payer and resident, I believe Kogarah council needs to take responsibility of the IMPACT such a Mosque will have on the local area today, tomorrow and the future, it will be irreversible. Local residence will be driven out of there homes they have shared for many generations. Take into consideration the situation of Lakemba + Kingsgrove Mosque, residence have sold properties for no other reason but disturbance the Mosque has attracted, Kingsgrove businesses have re-located or shut there business due to the high impact the Mosque has brought to the area. Businesses are unable to operate efficiently due to illegal double parking, and congestion to the streets NOT allowing business to access there own property. A Mosque on Tavistock & King Georges Road ISN'T a appropriate site for such a HIGH impact development for a local suburban residential area. Possibly Council should seek alternative and more suitable location. There is NO BENEFIT to our local or wider community for such a huge Mosque, not to mention the proximity to other local and near mosque, 3.1kms away at 445 Forest Road Penshurst, 18 Culwulla Street South Hurstville, 5 Queen Victoria Street Bexley, 3-5 Wollongong Road Arncliffe, 283 Bay Street Brighton Le Sands, 2 Fredrick Street Rockdale + 89 Railway Pde Rockdale, plus 6 at Lakemba + 7 in Bankstown all are within minutes away from public transport bus stations and railway lines. Does South Hurstville really need a Mosque it clearly shows there is NO LACK OF MOSQUE in our area already.
The Mosque will have significant increased traffic impact and road safety conditions already under pressure to local residence, we already have experienced 2 separate road/car accident fatalities on Terry Street. Residence SAY NO MORE.
The Mosque proposes 7 days prayers 365 days 5 prayers per day from 3.30am to 10.30pm possibly later, what impact does this have on local residence, noise, parking, privacy, environmental damage ,obstruction to enter your property, obstruction to business car park at IGA supermarket and small shopping village, obstruction to Nursing Home and South Hurstville Kindergarten, safety, all to the risk of local homes and property. Majority of the visitors to the Mosque will be from out of area. NO BENEFIT to our local homes and residence.
Another great concern the Mosque proposes educational
classrooms for children ! has the NSW board of Education approved such classes and there teachings. What education system will be followed ?
The proposed Mosque development is massive oversized construction and not within the streetscape limitations, Such a Mosque will be overbearing to the local development, and will not fit in with the existing streetscape.

  106. john Citizen commented

The proposed mosque at 849 King Georges Rd is the another example of the beginnings of the end of Christianity in this part of the world. The Saudi's will fund everything , the local governments will yield and result in mosques being built in inappropriate places such as here and all around Sydney. Then muslims will flock to the area, Christain residences / business will move out as muslims don't assimilate with Christians ,then muslims will buy up property until it becomes another Lakemba or Arncliffe.
    The other obvious impacts are:
    Parking crises.
    Noise at inappropriate hours.
    Intimidation of residences.

We don't want a mosque here, it threatens our way of life , our childrens belief in Christianity.
Why are the local governments so blind? The majority of rate payers don't want the mosque, so it is your duty to ensure it doesnt happen. The muslims are taking advantage of our Christian and Democratic beliefs ie. welcome thy neighbour with love and the right to express.
Listen to us before it is too late !!!

I am opposed to proposed construction of the mosque at 849 King Georges Rd South Hurstville for the following reasons:

    1) The proposed development does not agree to the area’s demography and it does not service the needs of the local residents of our community as a whole.

    2) King Georges Road is busy road no matter what time of the day it is, building a mosque in a residential area not only will it create traffic chaos, parking issues but also increase the noise level in the area, hence, another health concern for the local community especially those elderly people living in the retirement village across the road, who also need CLEAR access for emergencies and ambulance.

    3) Building a mosque in a residential area will bring worshippers outside the areas which is a security concerns to the local community.

    4) The mosque operating hours is disruptive to nearby residents. The expected operating hours will be from 3:30 am to 10:30 pm in summer and 5:00 am to 9:30 pm in winter.

I'm fully against this development coz this sort of building will increase congestion of a crowded area & make all the peace loving residents feel offended due to what happened around the world & in parramatta. We won't feel secure living in the beautiful south.

  113. Mark Citizen commented

This project will bring down Kogarah Council and the nearby suburbs' profile & drag down the property prices. We don't wish to see a congregation of strange people with not clear intentions.

No one wish to see South Sydney become like Bankstown or Lakemba.
Council already rejected their plans a few times, there should be a limit put on this on-going application again & again, wasting time & resources

We are strong against to this plan

I also wish to add my displeasure in this proposal.

What compensation does the council expect to pay the local community for the interruption in their lives if another mosque is in the area? There is already a mosque in Arncliffe so how much more demand are they envisioning for this new Mosque? What about the traffic and congestion they envisioning in this area?

When are the next council elections to occur? If this proposal goes ahead I'll be empowered to rally for a change in the next election.

I do NOT agree with this proposal and hope the council will do the right decision and decline this. Considering the amount of people that have already showed their unhappiness with this proposal so far... lets hope the council can see sense and make the right decision before we are forced to do the same on the next elections.

I strongly against this DA application.

    - Huge noise problem for Mosque especially 7 days a week.
    - Extremely bad Traffic congestion if the buildings are allowed to be build.

I am strongly against another mosque being built in the southern suburbs. A mosque which belongs to Allah can never be sold or demolished . Why cant they worship Allah in a Musalla at least the government will have some control over. A mosque on the other hand as stated can never be sold or destroyed as it belongs to Allah it is used for many things it is not just a place of worship as we christians know it teaches and encourages those of the muslim faith to destroy all non believers it is at the core of their ideology, an ideology which does not fit into a democratic society such as Australia. Egypt and Dubai have banned the building of mosques because their governments have recognised negative impact they have had on those societies. The muslims who applied for this DA are using our system to benefit themselves only. What good does a mosque serve the majority of the people who are Christians living within a 20km radius.
There are now more than 5000 very concerned locals who are opposing the building of the mosque at the corner of Tavistock and King Georges Road South Hurstville. The sheer number of people who oppose the building of this mosque speaks for itself.
As indicated over and over The State Government and Local Government must take into consideration noise , traffic and parking a place of worship operating nearly 24 hours a day 7 days a week is not acceptable in this location. The Muslims have now lodged and application with the Department of Land and Environment who have the power to overide Council. The Muslim have been very quick in realising that it is not the Council the people have to convince. The DA will be decided by the above Department and it is the State Members of Parliament people need to contact to help inorder that the building of this mosque does not get approved. Australians have every right not to support Islamic ideology and a mosque which is at the centre of it.

I too am strongly against this proposal with respect to the community , I have seen that Kaos with traffic in can cause and noise it creates in Auburn and Lakemba As the parking facilities they have said would be under the place of worship I cannot believe it is sustainable as the other suburbs mentioned causing traffic Kaos and parking on Footpaths and service station WILL be a major Issue . I stand with the residence in the area and say NO WAY.

  119. Annie Wang commented

Noise is the main concern. It is busy as it is I really feel sorry for the local residents if this is to go ahead. I am surround by 5 neighbouring houses and OCCASIONALLY need to complaint to them about the noises already. However having a CONSTANT noise from the venue would be unbearable.

This development is not suitable for our area. People of this faith are an insignificant % of residents and so it will draw a lot of outsiders from other areas to visit. These people are culturally very different to our national values, they do not respect those who do not follow them and they do not respect our cultural values. We do not want to attract more of them to our area where we will be made to feel unsafe for walking down the street in a summer dress....keep the mosques in areas where there is a high% of Islamic people.

there're enough mosques being built around Sydney already for the 2%.
Have you seen other religion building the places of worship like the moslem do?
Where are the funds coming from?

I strongly object to the proposed Mosque at 849 King Georges Road Sth Hurstville
This proposed mosque will have a huge impact on residents in this area for a number of major reasons. The proposed operating hours will cause noise and parking issues at times that are not consistent with general community standards. Operating from 3:30 am to 10.30 pm in summer and 5.00 am to 9.30 pm in winter adjacent to a residential area is
not acceptable and should not be permitted.
The increased amount of traffic from the very early hours of the mornings to late at nights
this Mosque would generate, by vehicles entering and leaving and worshipers congregating prior to and after prayers , would be extremely disturbing to all nearby residents in this area.
The proposed Mosque itself is out of character with existing buildings and houses in the areaand would be an eyesore, especially the huge dome.
A further concern to me is the fact the area would regress ,resembling Punchbowl Lakemba and Auburn
What will be taught to students seven days a week ? There are many English speaking schools In the area, without having classes to preach Koranic values, where anyone who does not believe in their ways is an “ infidel “. Young people are so gullible and easily influenced
by some radical clerics, who come to Mosques by invitation , preaching hatred for our
western values, this can only have a detrimental effect on our way of life in South Hurstville.
The figures quoted at (76 ) followers approximately, are intentionally understated to meet one of the Planning laws , the Proposed Development Noise Report of (260) persons demonstrate deliberate understating of figures. The planned basement parking for 35 cars could not convey over 250 people, with more, during special celebrations, resulting in a spill over to nearby streets

Please consider the ongoing impacts on the community, just to please a small minority

The area in which the Mosque is proposed to be built is unsuitable. The reasons being are that the area is classified as residential with aged care facilities, schools and other places of worship within close proximity.

The street in which the Mosque is proposed to be built is a quiet suburban street with minimal off street parking. The 31 car spaces that are proposed to be available will in no way be sufficient to service the size of the place of worship which will then on flow to the street parking which is already being used by the local residents and which is at a minimum.

The erection of such a building will mean further congestion in which is already an area which is highly impacted by the existing facilities.

The effect of building a place of worship of this magnitude in a quiet residential street will impact the safety of the children attending the local school, pre-school and aged care facility due to overcrowding in the streets surrounding. The high traffic flow and foot traffic will cause an impact to the residents as well as the environmental impact that the development will cause.

The noise factor is a great concern to the local residents due to the prayer times occurring whilst the neighbourhood would usually be asleep. This would cause a considerable amount of inconvenience due to the out of hours prayer times.

The size of the building is intrusive to the area as it is situated in a quiet residential part of South Hurstville and the building is not within the usual scope of the buildings in the surrounding area.

We do not oppose the development of places of worship, however the development of a place of worship of this magnitude should be granted in an area where it does not impact the community on such a grand scale.

  126. sean berry commented

The area is not big enough and second we already have seen violence come from the mosques, do we want more muslim gangs operating inside these mosques? No we don't, the muslims inside these mosques are doing nothing to stop it as well, they need to find a more suitable area in which has no residents or other religious churches around, what you are asking is unfair to the residents as well as workers of the immediate and surrounding area.

  127. Sarah James commented

I am strongly opposed to this development.

    - The proposed site is completely unsuitable for this proposed Mosque.
    - The block size is far too small and located in the middle of a well established residential area.
    - There is a complete lack of parking for the greatly understated number of people this mosque will cater for and this will massively impact the local residents.
    - The hours of operation 3:30am to 10:30pm 7 days a week are very intrusive, disruptive and completely unacceptable to the local residents.
    - NOT even Sydney International Airport that services millions of people movements every year to our nations largest city is permitted to operate with such extensive hours.
    - The huge increase in traffic flow and the constant traffic flow at all hours is a major safety issue. There are 2 kindergartens within 120m of the proposed mosque with children being dropped off and picked up mornings and afternoons.... the local streets are already over congested and this will spell danger.
    - The proposed mosque will be built next to a Retirement Village with no regard to the elderly residents. The mosque will operate 19 hours a day for the wishes of its clientele but no has regard for the impact on its neighbours.
    - King Georges Rd is a "Clearway" BOTH morning and evening in BOTH directions.
    - King Georges Rd is a divided road. Access to the mosque will have to be via Connells Point Rd, The Mall and other nearby streets. This will cause huge disruption, traffic problems noise at all hours of the day and night, anti-social behaviour, etc.
    - The local residents and ratepayers do NOT want this development because of the size, scale and huge negative impact to the local community. A development of this size and impact irrespective of whether its a mosque, catholic church, synagogue or any commercial enterprise that proposed to operate with such extensive hours, to service the desires of those outside the local community, that fails to comply with traffic, parking, noise, safety and other considerations would receive the exact same strong opposition.
    - The applicant is seeking to make this into a religious debate not the local community.... This is to divert attention away from a DA is extremely flawed.
    - The Council and Land & Environment Court needs to act in the interest of the majority of the local residents and community. They cannot allow one proposed property to have its way over the overwhelming majority of incumbent residents and ratepayers
THIS DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION IS COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE... IT MUST NOT PROCEED.

  128. Josephine commented

I don’t believe the local residents and surrounding suburbs will benefit from this application.
    • The increase in the number of visitors on the daily basis, will affect the lifestyle of local residents
    • There area with 150m of the proposed Mosque already consists of an Anglican Church, 2 Pre-schools and a Retirement Village. Traffic and parking issues already exist, the proposed Mosque will cause major safety, noise and traffic problems
    • This proposed development is not suitable in a residential area.
    • Insufficient parking and reliance on already stressed street parking availability.
    • Cars will need to access via Connells Point Rd, The Mall and Tavistock Rd as well as other back streets causing noise, safety issues and major traffic and parking issues.

  129. Anitha commented

There is a retirement village just opposite to the proposed mosque. My daughter attends the south hurstville pre school. It is already hard to find parking there. Please do not make it even worse! There is always traffic jam in King georges road during the peak time. There are two preschools, one retirement village, IGA and a church within 200 m radius of the proposed site! The planning is already bad. I do not understand why the Kogarah council want to approve this application. Money should not come first before the residents.
    Let the residents live peacefully.

Mosque is not appropriate for south hurstville. It is not a muslim majority area.
I request the kogarah council not to go ahead with the application. Let south hurstville be south hurstville not AUBURN!

If love to see a mosque built on the site. It will open up the area and make the site look amazing and from that raise the value of the area.

It's on the main road so noise isn't an issue as KGR is already noisy.

It's proposed a 3 level carpark so no parking problem

Great for the community to bring people together and bridge the gap in our current society.

I am all for it, can't wait to hear for the approval

  132. Nicole tietie commented

    This would be insane.
The traffic is crazy now and this will bring major congestion to the area. I have to drive through daily the last thing the area needs is more traffic.
Clearly this is about profit for the council as I thought their main focus was on housing for people in the area.
    I say no to this.
    Nicole

  133. Samas vickary commented

First it will be the mosque. then it will be women being told not to walk near it alone, then theft and hostility will rise and the property value of the area will go down

  134. James Kuo commented

I am a born and bred resident of the south hurstville area and I do NOT want this mosque here nor do my neighbours and most of the locals I talk to around here. In all honesty, can you tell me a middle eastern suburb in Sydney that is actually safe and peaceful ? It does not exist. It is not racist because the facts are hard and true. You call for equality but ask for special considerations. Do not bring your rubbish to our suburb. I am speaking a truth that many are afraid to speak out about.
