This development clearly should not be approved. Council know very well what is at stake here with the vulnerable Powerful Owls, locally endangered Gang_gang and this habitat. 88 Malton Road has removed a number of landmark Angophora Trees that the native fauna utilise for roosting, foraging and nesting. NO more tree are to be cut down. This area, along with Byles Creek Valley across the road from 88 is critical bushland and native habitat. These two proposed dwellings will impact further the destruction of the native environment, and with any removal of trees inimical to the natural fauna. These two proposed dwelling do nothing to address affordable housing in the local area. They do not address sustainability nor climate change. In actual fact any flat surface such as roofing and cement, void of greenery increases the impact of climate change and will impact future generations .Visually they are just another cookie-cutter McMansion with no aesthetic value. They are out of place and a sad representation of liquid modernity that is decimating the character of Beecroft and Cheltenham. Whether Council staff or IHAP are the responsible agency for approval? they need to place the benefit of the community and natural environment ahead of another cheap development.
