Dear Councillors,
My point may not be considered as i live a couple of streets away, but seeing the planning permit application on the front lawn of this property stopped me in my tracks this morning.
I am an interior designer very much interested in respecting architectural integrity.
Moorwatha is one of the most original, quaintest leafy streets this side of the railway line and is a perfect snapshot of the kind of streetscape people move to Macleod for.
It may be 2 blocks on paper, but shoehorning two townhouses onto this pretty corner will start a domino effect of soulless developments in this charming neighbourhood. There is no call for the kind of transient population this kind of development attracts, this is an area for families who crave actual green spaces - as suburbia was intended to be. It is a 15 minute hike over the hill to the station and is likely to end up as a permanent rental.
I have lived in this area 12 years and have walked my children in their prams over the years deliberately down this street as it has such character.
Is there any way to influence the exterior design of this redevelopment to at least preserve the spacious green outlook and timeless appeal of this streetscape? Otherwise Macleod may as well just be Epping.
Thanks for listening.
Kind regards
Trisha Lee Harrisson
