I fully support the development of residential multi-unit buildings: inner Sydney needs much more capacity for its increasing population. I hope the state government will focus spending on infrastructure to further support this, but increasing residential capacity is where we need to start. I look forward to seeing this, and other similar projects, approved.

Mr avocado would approve since it is probably money in the pocket. We do not - emphasise this -want any more inner west towers (see what happened in London) so take your opinions further out west.\ and let us keep our peaceful suburban enjoyment. No more high rise for inner west emphatically for the money grubbers only not for real people just somewhere to park money.

Hi Julie
What happened in London?, Ms international expert. So small minded you cannot see what is coming regardless of your petty comments. High density is here in the inner west already, suck it up princess or leave too your western slums.
Mr Bacon and Avocado is on the money.

I guess Bacon and Avocado must have an interest in ensuring this DA proposal proceeds. I wonder what financial interest they have in this that is prejudicing their comments?
Inner West is losing it's soul with all these high density complexes coming onto the market (Look at Canterbury, Campsie, Belmore etc.)
It would be nice to have at least some suburbs untarnished by the greed of developers who only care about how many units they can squeeze onto the lot.
I agree with Julie Jac in that the existing infrastructure for inner sydney (Transport, parking etc) is already at peak capacity and we don't need anymore high rise muti unit developments until that aspect is resolved.
I am against this proposal

Unlike London and other hubs of civilisation, high rise/high density is being dumped on us within a very short space of time. Would Mr Avocado put his money where his mouth is and choose to live in one of the ugly, monotonously grey boxes that are springing up all over Sydney? It will be a pity if they ever need to widen Canterbury Road because these units are only a footpath's width away from the kerb. But of course we'll all be zipping around on the Metro or one of those wretched hire bikes (aka rats with wheels).

I have zero financial interest in this, or indeed any other development. My interest lies simply in wanting to see Sydney as a modern and forward-thinking city. That means more residential capacity, higher-density living and an end to this ridiculous concept of heritage that white people in the Inner West have attached to colonial buildings that serve no purpose in a modern, forward-thinking city.

We absolutely do want more Inner West towers, and I would be delighted to live in one.

Me thinks you do have a financial interest and you're probably a paid commenter. And you also approve of those towering infernos going up too. I for one wouldn't want to be in one of those should a fire happen.

Lets talk about "white people in the Inner West" Mr Avocado. I presume that includes people like my friend's parents who came here from Greece and settled in Marrickville? Her mum is still in the same house and feels like she has absolutely no say about the neighbourhood she's lived in for over 60 years - all the while paying rates and taxes. Or me who was born in Camperdown in the 60s, lived in free standing dwellings and units at most points of the compass around Sydney, and also worked in the CBD, western and southern suburbs. I'd say that gives me some perspective and rights when it comes to expressing an opinion about how the city (and surrounding suburbs) is developed. I've also enjoyed the white colonialist privilege of travel overseas (shoot me, I saved up for it) and I can see Sydney shaping up to be the mongrel offspring of Hong Kong crossed with Los Angeles. Arable land and catchment areas that should have been quarantined years ago are now covered with housing. Historically, urban planning in our fair city has not been a strong suit, eg ubiquitous walk up flats that replaced some of those "colonial" artefacts that you deride. The issue now is that the stuff ups stand to be on a more monumental scale, and the developer dog does appear to be wagging the government tail. I'm just old enough to remember the close calls that occurred from the Askin era of modern forward thinking. We nearly lost the Rocks on that occasion - a "ridiculous concept" that tourists now enjoy visiting. I doubt they'd find the tower blocks originally proposed quite as exciting.
