We support the application for outdoor dining in-principle. However, the application appears to ignore the potential for conflict between cyclists, pedestrians and diners given that soon, this curtilage will become a shared path (upon completion of the light rail). The proponent should be conditioned to ensure that responsibility for managing the following issues rests with them:
a) diners obstructing free passage of pedestrians and riders
b) pizza delivery scooters not being parked at the shopfront
c) provision of sufficient visitor bike parking (if necessary, as demand grows, as is likely given the urban and transport transformations that will result from the closure of Chalmers St, north)
