We object to the proposal to build a six storey building with parking underneath planned for the back of the site on Beaconsfield Lane due to the increase in traffic and related noise level it will mean for Shirley Street which is already a noisy through road from Ralph Street to Botany Road.
Our complex on the block running from Botany Road to Ralph Street is at four storey level facing the proposed site. A six storey building will overlook those apartments and will not be in keeping with the rest of the neighbourhood which has a height level restricted to less than six storeys.
The increase in residential development in this area and along Botany Road means that it's time to consider the people who are now living here rather than allowing each new development on a former warehouse site to be treated like it's the only one in the area and therefore not adversely affecting the amenities of others in the area. The Ralph Street site has established apartment blocks further down the street to the right and left and there has already been planning approval given for residential blocks on each side of it. A large development of this size and height is not in keeping with the residential developments in the vicinity. Importantly the increase in traffic and traffic relayed noise will be intolerable to the residents of the complex on Shirley Street.
