154 childcare places is going to generate an enormous amount of additional traffic in Shirley Road especially at opening and closing times. This development is south of the narrow part of Shirley Road where it is very difficult for 2 cars to pass each other and through which all traffic will have to pass to reach the centre. In addition this development is at the bottom of Shirley Road which is a very steep cul de sac which is not suited to handling anything but minimal traffic.

This location is totally unsuitable for such a large development which will generate a huge increase in traffic on a road which, in places, is not wide enough for 2 cars to pass each other. Also the parking around Berry Island Reserve is already limited. The proposal is for underground parking for only 22 cars. The street around the proposal is narrow, it's a dead end which means cars dropping off or picking up children will need to navigate a tight and limited turning circle. It will be only a matter of time before a child is injured.
This proposal is totally out of character for this peaceful conservation area. It is not the place for a development of this size and scale.
