While I am sympathetic to the applicant's purpose, the hours of operation (which include entertainment) are excessive and obtrusive in what is primarily a residential area. I live in the adjoining strata, approximately 100 metres away. Noise, particularly when guests or entertainers are outside carries (even more so in waterfront locations) and is disturbing. There are strata units in the same building, above the premises for which the application is made. There are another 143 strata units in the adjoining buildings, and the noise from 1 Harris St carries to these and also across the small bay to the large strata buildings on the point. Given this location, I suggest that a cessation of business at 10:00 PM would be more in keeping with the neighbourhood and that entertainment be restricted to inside the premises.
