As residents of Cecil Street, Monterey we are appalled to find we have not received notification of the development at 6-8 Cecil Street. We live at 24 *Cecil Street and as the street is shirt we cannot understand why we were not advised of this development. It will have enormous implications to the residents of this quiet street. We already suffer the problem of residents parking in this street from Banks Street apartments as there is not enough parking available for the amount if apartments now constructed in Banks Street. It is a known fact that any flat with 2 bedrooms will more than often have 2 vehicles this will put huge strain on this narrow street. All you need to do is speak to the garbage truck driver who will tell you of the issues we already face with vehicles etc in rubbish day. Sometimes he cannot negotiate the street to collect the rubbish. Residents fronting Banks Street industry in parking in Cecil Street and have opposed angle parking in front of their properties in Banks Street one of the widest streets in Monterey. Council will have to sort parking solutions such as turning a section of the park at the end of Cecil Street into parking bays to accommodate the overflow.
Despite all these issues I still cannot believe the entire Street was not notified of this development. They are apparently demolishing these properties in the near future. Another issue is the access to the street while building is in progress with the street parking there is hardly enough room to get down the street on a normal day let alone with construction happening. A resident at 21 Cecil Street runs a business from home and will suffer huge impact if clients cannit access the street.
Very disappointed in your notification process as having worked in building & development at another council I am very aware if the notification process and it appears you have not complied with this. One could assume this was a deal being done by not notifying those most affected by this development.
I would appreciate some type of response from the Council re this submission.
Yours sincerely

I believe there has been an amendment to the proposal at 6-8 Cecil Street. As an objector to the original proposal we were advised by Customer Service at Bayside /Rockdale Council we would be notified of any amendments to this proposal. We have just found out through neighbours and residents in the street that an amendment has been received and objections need to be resubmitted by 2/8/2017. Our objections remain the same in that the building does not conform to the requirements set out in the LEP the building encroaches over the recommended setbacks. The building will be larger than existing structures at that end of the street presenting a very imposing street scape for such a small street. Parking issues have always been an issue in this street as multi unit dwellings in Banks Street cannot accommodate vehicles leading residents to park on the street with the overflow coming into Cecil Street. Cecil Street is impacted also by Banks Street residents parking their vehicles in Cecil Street rather on Banks Street. The construction of this new residential flat building will find more vehicles overflowing into this street. This causes issues for the garbage collection and other delivery vehicles. These issues have been raised with the Parking people at Council with no result to curb these problems. Many options have been given but not acted upon. Residents in Cecil Street will have difficulty entering and exiting the street once construction begins as the building site is located on the corner of the street obstructing access to residents. The residents have no objection to development of the site however it would be appreciated if the developer could by sympathetic to the local area and be aware of the residents co existing in the street.
