I strongly object to this proposed development for numerous reasons.
A "NEW AGE" BOARDING HOUSE is very obviously NOT in keeping with the area and certainly not on the main street of a beachside shopping centre. Bay Street is already over-congested with traffic and a severe shortage of existing parking spaces.
Brighton is a beachside neighbourhood suburb which already accomodates thousands of visitors to the area.
A boarding house is entirely inappropriate to the existing enjoyment of the area.
Any councillor who promotes or attempts to approve this proposal should hang their heads in shame and disgrace.

I am firmly opposed to this proposal as it does not consider the already crowded area that lacks parking spots for the existing homes and shops. furthermore, the traffic is terrible in the area during the peak hours and summer weekends.
Additionally, existing shops are already struggling to keep the doors open due to the vast competition in the area. What is more, within 1.5 km from the proposed project one can easily find all types of shops that a beach side suburb needs such as supermarkets, pharmacy, restaurants, hairdressers, convenience shops, petrol stations, spas, massages, gyms, electronic stores, butcheries and so on.
Finally, Brighton Le Sands has already a massive issue with the noise from the cars and bikes that come to show off on Bay St. at the weekends which can only get louder with more dwellers and shops.
To summarize, Brighton Le Sands will certainly not benefit from more shops or more units, instead it will only make the area even more crowded and noisier.

I'd like to express my profound disapproval for the Boarding House Project submitted at
"295 Bay Street, Brighton Le Sands NSW 2216". The reasons provided for this development appear to detail a need for low rent accommodation in the area for workers and students. However, without adequate parking facilities for young professionals to park, a train station 2 kilometres away, the nearest Tafe more than 2.5 kilometres away and the nearest University a staggering 14 kilometres away, this project appears to be poorly suited for either young professionals or students. Surely this project would be better suited closer to a train station. This would keep in line with many other projects in Sydney that result in Sydney siders being able to walk to the train station, therefore allowing for smaller car Parks near train stations and less congestion during peak hour for an already congested area of Sydney. Due diligence would suggest that this project is unsatisfactory and therefore need not go ahead in this area.

I have no doubt to object this development proposal. The traffic of Bay Street in the morning is terribly congested. The 40 speed limit has already slowed down all the cars up and down Bay street. There is a huge queue along Crawford Road between 7:45 to 9am every weekday. In order to bypass the traffic light at the junction of Crawford Road/Bay Street, many cars doing short cut at England Street right turning into Bay Street. They have already caused long delays for cars turning left into Bay Street heading towards Rockdale. With these additional eighty eight rooms for tenants in the area, it will bring in a lot more of traffic problems.
Brighton-Le-Sands has already overpopulated in recent years. Adding more high rise will not bring any good to the local business but more troubles. We have already experienced in recent years drug crimes, racial attacks and illegal car racing in early morning.
We are long time residents in this neighborhood and we want a quiet place to live. Please leave us alone and go elsewhere.

I oppose the proposed Development Application under review by Bayside Council for an 11 storey, 88 room Boarding House Tower to be built on Bay St Brighton-Le-Sands. It does not fit with the character of Brighton-Le-Sands.
A .'boarding house' is totally unsuitable to a family oriented residential area. And it's not fitting the surrounding residential and commercial lot usages.
The area suffers from serious crime and social behavior issues, low cost boarding house will only going to bring further issues to the area.
Brighton Le Sands have major parking issues, this building is approved with 22 car spaces only, where the rest of the residents will park. The streets of Brighton-le-Sands are already congested and suffering from a severe shortage of parking due to a lack of car parking stations.
Please review and do not build this in Brighton Le Sands

This is a money grabbing exercise by 2 greedy men who live in Point Piper & Rose Bay. They payed $5,750,000 and are all ready trying to sell the site subject to DA approval by Bayside Council for $14,000,000. I wonder if they would get away with this if they lodged a similar DA with Woollahra Council, I think NOT. This will attract the most undesirable people to our neighbourhood bringing with them crime like drugs and robberies like Brighton Le Sands has never seen before. guaranteed. The Land & Environment Court has already rejected this application once and common sense along with community concerns it should be rejected again. build a beautiful block of units with shops below and I'm sure the community would have no objection. Bayside Council please do the right thing by your community and continue to fight this application. I thank you Rockdale Council for opposing & fighting this outrageous application up until now.
