To whom it may concern,I would just like it to be known that my grandfather,William Stanley,on my mother's side, lived (and died in 1885,aged 55) in this building. My grandfather,Walter Hastings Stanley was 12 at the time of his death. His mother died also when he was 12-poor lad! He had no relatives as his parents were from England.William was either an umbrella maker or a printing compositor. Possibly the latter, as his son became a baker's boy, then a journalist as an adult. If you have any historical information on the building going back to the period up until 1886,and a spare copy of the photo on the Net,I would be most appreciative if you would make it available to me for the family tree I am putting together for our adult children. I can be contacted on 07 3286 3645 24/7 or the email below. It would be wonderful if Councils could make it mandatory to have at least one photo/print of the original building in the foyer of new building,in all new developments, and maybe even a brief history of the orig. building's use,and names of some occupants. Thanking you for your interest,Yours sincerely,Hilary Ikstrums.
