I don't support smoking and drinking on the smoking deck 24hrs a day 7 days a week.

Although I love the Imperial and the late night dance events held there, I think the noise from smokers on the deck in the small hours of the night would be too much.

If you want to keep partying, stay inside and quit smoking.

That sounds like a great idea. Patrons will be all over the footpath anyway. Why not give them a place within the premises. Current laws are barbaric.

The deck already exists and is 24/7 but it is alcohol free
I assume the change is just to allow drinking - This I think is a bad idea as it will encourage people to stay and "party" there other than the current go have a smoke then go back to the bar

I think it would make sense to do something like the Newtown Hotel. Have the deck available till 10pm and then close it to keep disturbances to a minimum.

the description for this change is poor
It is not a new smoking area - It is the existing smoking deck
Proposed changes are to:
amend condition 2 to provide permanent use of the smoking deck 24 hours a day, 7 days a week;
Currently the deck is only 24hrs on Friday/Saturdays
and
amend condition 3(b) amplified music
Currently Amplified music is currently not allowed
and
(e) to allow for the consumption of alcohol on the smoking deck.
Currently alcohol is not permitted to be consumed

No changes should be made to the current conditions on the existing smoking deck

I strongly oppose this application on a few fronts.

Firstly the fact that it is 24/7 with no time restrictions at all. I understand that the pub historically has a very generous licence although this should not be a consideration for further relaxing of their conditions. Given all venues around it (Rose and Erko) have much more restrictive hours that are in line with community expectations I would suggest that the same should apply to the imperial.

Secondly the amplified music outside. I have walked by the imperial multiple times where the music was so loud I could hear it down the road. This was when the music was inside and only the door was left open. It would be unfair on the general community to have to deal with amplified music outside the venue at any time.

Thirdly allowing alcohol on the smoking deck, I once again oppose this. It encourages people to loiter in the area of the deck creating increased noise and antisocial behavior to the community and people living nearby. Given this is a late night venue, this could have a considerable impact.

I would point out that they are Very lucky to have such a unrestrictive liquor licence in a residential area I do not believe this is in the communities best interest and should be completely rejected.

Agree; use of the deck until 10pm is a great compromise. Realistically, they must know that 24/7 is quite impractical.
