My husband and I have just come back from a wonderful holiday having seen Castle Rose...what a wonderful building? Does it really have to be demolished? Is it up for possible sale? Please advise before they send the bull dozers in maybe we can do something with it!!! It seems such an iconic part of the community's history and I think it if fabulous! Would love to continue the dream!

I have lived in Wyong Shire since 1964 and castle rose has been their since before then.
I believe the house was being built for the builders wife but she passed away.
The building was a mans dream and should be kept and completed in his memory. A legacy to the vision of all people that make up this great country of ours.
I have heard that the building was started with out council permission, not sure if that's true or. I have also heard that it's not engineered to today's standards and that's the reason for the demolition order.
If countries in Europe demoliseded all the buildings not built to today's standard there would be nothing of history to look at.

I f the structural soundness is the issue there are remidial works that can be done although it would cost but I am sure the cost would be worth it.
If Europeans counted the costs and decideded demolition was the answer the world would have lost out.
So it is with Castle Rose once demolished it's gone forever.
Please consider well what you do.

Currently using this site as my final year master studio for Architecture (Newcastle).
The current owner lives across the road.
    Very interesting site, building.

Today is a sad day. The demolition of this beautiful but neglected castle has begun. Living down the street from it has been a joy and more than a few tears hate being shed by many many locals. It's a shame that council has been short sighted and not saved Castle Rose

Thank god it's finally going. What an eye sore, been a drug den for the last 20 years ++.

Surly more could have been done by the council to save this significant historical site.

Surely council could have kept this iconic piece of local history, especially after Alison Farm burnt down. There is not much history in the Northern Coast, yet they are happy to demolish the most beautiful building in Buff Point. Surely an investor would have been interested in preserving it?????
