While I appreciate the need for new housing, I do not support the proposed development in its current form.

The level of consultation with the affected community of Kuranda Cres has been inadequate given the material change of residential use. One letter drop is not sufficient. A social impact assessment should be considered given the amount of opposition in Kuranda crescent.

In addition to that, the assumption that the community would be ok with the development shows the discrepancy between the developer and the community afffected. Council needs to look and discuss the development with the affected community before making a decision. There are major impacts to the local community from habitat loss, service pressure, to traffic. These areas have not been assessed appropriately given the size of the development.

The the assumption that the development will go ahead without opposition by the proponents representative is shallow and incorrect. The area affected has been a low density residential area for years. The area is family based with deep social connections who love bringing up a family in a bush setting, with the ability to play on the streets without the risk of being hit by a car because we introduced 15 new dwellings into the traffic . A Sydney based representative has no idea about the social dynamics of the area

Lastly, putting the development entrance onto Kurranda Cres instead of Charlestown road may avoid TfNSW does not fix the problem. Kuranda Crescent is full. Any further traffic disrupts the amenity of the area and puts pressure on already overloaded roads

The current development should not be approved in its current form, for the benefit of the existing community who have been present for decades.
