Objection to Development Application Reference No. 25032109
The East Residents Association Inc., representing the residents of Dulwich, Rose Park and Toorak Gardens, strongly objects to the proposed development.
Converting three independent living units into a meeting hall is entirely unsuitable for Hewitt Avenue. Such a facility will inevitably increase noise, traffic flow, and congestion, further impacting the residential character of the street.
Parking is already severely strained due to nearby restaurants and businesses on Kensington Road. Adding a meeting hall will place further pressure on already limited parking, remove spaces relied upon by residents, and introduce regular weekend and late-night disturbances.
Furthermore, the proposal effectively introduces a business premises into a street zoned for residential use. This is inappropriate and unacceptable.
The development plans includes the two existing units with no clear explanation of their intended furture use. Before any approval is considered, full transparency on the purpose and operation of these units is required.
We urge the Council to reject the application due to its detrimental impact on local residents.
