If this is an inground swimming pool, rather then pop it out which could create future problems, subsoil waters filling the cavity making the area a quagmire.
I cut 750mm off the walls, formed a concrete slab over. Diverted and connected the property stormwater drainage into the existing walls. Altered the existing pool pump to a footvalve at the deep end of the pool so I can pump the water to an above ground rainwater tank for use as "grey water.
