The residents of Henry Street have serious concerns regarding this development.
Firstly before the property was subdivided in the floods of 2022 the entire yard of 52 King Street was flooded, 54 was flooded to the top of the back steps. It was not the first time.
Secondly there is no driveway access to 52 King Street, currently the owner and all services drive onto the footpath from Henry street and in the process have damaged the footpath ( for a second time). No one taking responsibility for the damage, I have twice alerted the council to this.
The entrance and exit to Henry Street from King Street is very wide this allows residents to veer to the left when turning right so they can see the traffic coming from both ways before turning.
A driveway entering from 52 King street will not allow the driver to see traffic until they are on the road. There is also a major drain from the Henry Street/King Street corner it is another factor than needs to be addressed.
King street is a designated 40km changing to 60km after the roundabout and the 80km straight after Henry Street. Much of the traffic exits the roundabout and speeds up to 80km. This is also something that needs to be addressed if a driveway is placed outside 52 King Street. It would be beneficial for both council and residents to meet regarding these issues rather than just rubber stamp the planning.
