Please refuse this application as we already have numerous smoking retails throughout Illawarra road and Marrickville. The community does not need anymore of these type of retailers. Please refuse based on the already excessive ratio of these retailers promoting addictive behaviour.
Thank you.

Please refuse - there is already a similar store a few shops down & another in the strip next to Woolworths. These marts are ruining the fabric of the community & diversity of retailers on Illawarra Rd. Community needs are already over serviced.

This application should be refused as there are too many vaping and tobacco shops in this area, another mini mart is unnecessary with the many close by grocery shops and also there is a lot of evidence that these shops are often money laundering venues. Tobacco sales should be restricted not encouraged especially as sales of tobacco products to under age people are not policed by the police!

Please refuse this application. No more tobacconists please. There are already far too many.

This application needs to be refused, there are already far too many of these fake convenience stores in Marrickville. The mayor has already flagged his commitement to cracking down on these types of stores, so some action would be much appreciated. The proliferation of these stores is ruining the character of our suburb.

Please refuse. These tobacco mini marts are pervasively popping up everywhere around Marrickville. The shopfront signage on these places are a terrible eyesore, and they do not add value to the community. We simply don't need another one of these.

Please deny this application on the grounds that similar businesses are already over represented in this area and their presence is detrimental to our community.

Please refuse this DA. We do not need another tobacconist in the area. It’s a bad influence on our community, especially on children and young adults, and other vulnerable and low income people. There is also substantial evidence that this type of shop is likely to sell illegal products.

This application should be approved. We support this submission based on the following items:
• The DA complies with local council zoning (E1 Local Centre).
• The proposed does not impede on the footpath passageway, i.e. tables/chairs, or lines of people on the footpath, causing restricted flow for pedestrians.
• The operating times are at reasonable hours, not opening too late/early. This limits un-social behaviour, and lingering.
• There has been sufficient security installed at the location, including adequate lighting, both internal & external CCTV, and security shutters. Furthermore, the location is appropriate, being a busy main road with plenty of street lighting and pedestrian activity. It also is within a newly built building, with security gates to the main building. Generally similar shops within older builders are at higher risk of security problems.
• The signage installed is limited, subtle and non-intrusive, being only plastic stickers installed on glass. There are no signs on the awning, wall adjacent, nor do the signs light up (which usually cause disturbance to the local community).
