Another lovely old house being removed and replaced by the common cheap 2 storey concrete box.
That's Rockdale.
Our suburb is turning into a getto.

Is Bayside council ever going to preserve any of it's history? These beautiful old houses that were built around the historic Lydham house should be preserved. Once knocked down this history is lost. And for what? Another ugly concrete box/boxes. The application is for dual occupancy, this can be achieved without demolition of the existing house, there is room on this block for another residence, and as it is on a corner, the second residence can have it's own direct street access from Tyrell St.
There are ways more housing can be created without destroying the area's history.
I am objecting to the demolition of the existing property, but not necessarily to dual occupancy.
