This very prominent site has been derelict for many years now and is a blight on the Murrumbeena community's landscape.

Since it is clear there is no intention by the owner to actually take any action with this site, especially now that there is an even larger development being done by the State Government just a short distance down Neerim Road which takes in the former petrol station and also part of the train station carpark it does not appear that the 430-434 Neerim Road could be a profitable site for a developer. I note that the site has been offered for sale with planning permission more than once since the planning permission was approved.

The extension to the permit should be rejected and the site should be required to be restored to its original function and heritage values in keeping with the rest of the Murrumbeena Village.

Glen Eira Council should not support the action of "Land Banking" and should not reward developers for engaging in this tactic which brings detriment and dereliction to our community.

I support every comment of Audrey Falconer.
I do not support the demolition of this building which is the oldest industrial building in this local area. I do not wish to see it solely commemorated by photographic artwork in a foyer of a new edifice. This building could be 'adaptively renewed', its internal spaces creatively restored and adapted to the requirements of housing and commerce and community.
I understand that the State Government is the owner of the "Billy Motors" garage site where an 8 storey development has been approved, and fast tracked to support federal government housing initiatives.
I do not support the reduction of car-park spaces on that site, or this, the "old Foodworks site".
Glen Eira Councillors should think creatively and recognise that our historical built environment once gone is lost, along with whatever we could learn from it.

I fully support the concerns raised regarding the prolonged dereliction of the site at 430–434 Neerim Road, Murrumbeena. This prominent location has been left in a state of neglect for far too long, becoming a visual blight and contributing nothing to the vibrancy or wellbeing of the local community. It is deeply disappointing to see such a central piece of Murrumbeena left idle, particularly when it holds potential for revitalisation that reflects the character and heritage of the area.

The repeated failure to act on the approved planning permit, alongside multiple attempts to sell the site without any progress, strongly suggests that there is no genuine intention to develop or restore the property. With a significant State Government development already underway nearby, the viability of this site as a profitable project seems increasingly doubtful.

I believe the request for an extension to the existing planning permit should be rejected. Instead, the Council should take a firm stance to ensure the site is restored in a way that honours its original function and contributes positively to the heritage and charm of Murrumbeena Village.

Land banking, especially in such a sensitive and central location, should not be tolerated. Glen Eira Council must prioritise community interests over speculative investment practices and take active steps to discourage ongoing neglect. Our neighbourhood deserves better!!
Look what was allowed to happen on the Corner of Centre Rd and East Boundary Rd - Massive failure in this system.

This is clearly a case of 'warehousing' or land banking, the owner does not want to even start the development build and has had the property on the market for years advertising for sale with the planning permit approvals.

As per Glen Eira councils extension of permit guidelines, warehousing is considered, so is the fact that the owner has not even started the build.

The rate payers have already funded 'visual improvements' to the tune of around $25000, including historic picture vinyl wraps and a painted street art mural on the side wall, but surely enough is enough. Its been too long that this vacant property has been sitting there, falling into a worse state of disrepair, it now has pigeons nesting in an unsecured window, putting their droppings on the side walk, so that rate payers again have to fork out money to clean, when the window should just be returned to its original state (as the window a few metres away is with no pigeons). Ratepayers also have to foot the bill for routine inspections to make sure the building is still safe. The building is heritage listed. Hundreds and probably thousands of cars drive past it, commuters from the station walk past it and most wonder what is happening with the building?

It's not fair on local residents, ratepayers and Murrumbeena Village traders that the council has let this go on for as long as it has.

I implore you to reject the extension and maybe then the building can be re-sold or leased to someone who will make better use of it.
