This building is so out of character, the surrounding units are either 5 or 6 stories high. Agree within Stanley there is 10 stories but this will cause shadow and not compliment the area.. it's criminal that counci and environmental court approved this structure

It's all very vague! Is it approved as 7 floors increased to 10? Or 10 floors increased to 13? π€
It seems that all developers get an approval knowing full well they can then increase it above the zoning height limit. π©
Some hold off knowing every approval can be increased, often more than once. π¬
Building overshadowing already an obvious issue in this area with surrounding streets. Stanley Street to Regent Street is such a drastic difference.
Also already dealing with insufficient street parking on the narrow Stanley Street. Anyone needing to deliver including Australia Post often has difficulty already.
The approval of 10 stories was at least fitting in with recent apartment buildings in Regent and Stanley Streets but the addition of 3 more stories and increase in height 30% greater than the councils North Kogarah Precinct limits is another matter! It has been allowed by the State Government to encourage private developers to provide temporary low cost housing instead of the Government fulfilling this need on a long term basis! They only need to have these low cost residences available for 15 years then they can sell them! And they get to profit even more by being encouraged to overdevelop in the first place.
The impact of shadowing on buildings opposite in Stanley street is substantially worse in winter reducing sunshine on balconies from the majority of the day to a mere hour or two, reducing amenity and increasing heating costs! Not to mention further reduction of privacy from having 3 more floors of residents overlooking adjacent properties. The parking is also inadequate with less than 1 parking spot on average and no visitor parking! There are two high schools close by and now 5 additional apartment blocks needing parking access and clogging narrow local streets.
This will also impact the local bat colonies who fly across this area to feeding grounds every evening.
This development amendment must not be approved!
Itβs outrageous that the council and environmental court approved this development. Increased height adding more floors will further compromise privacy, with more residents overlooking neighbouring properties. What about the people who paid so much for their property and now they have a hideous apartment view.
