If additional dwellings are to be added with this development on Bland street I would hope that there is provisions for additional off street parking beyond what is provided for each residence.
The development at 12 Bland street has seen many of the residents in these new builds parking on the street in the sign posted No parking zone.
Parking in the sign posted no parking zone obstructs the flow of traffic on the street.

The works should go ahead to prepare for stage 2 which will provide several much needed dwellings. It is a reasonable place for it and the shortage of housing far outweights any shortage of parking spaces and other trivial pieces of infrastructure. Plenty of car-free people like myself would like to live here, it is a 5 minute bike ride for me into town, and I could walk my kids down to the school. Currently priced out of the area and this added supply would help ease prices according to the research.
Council should ensure that any planning/engineering works affecting the water course should take account changing climate forecasts as well as future developments up stream of the site that could mean additional potential flooding for the site and further down stream.
As there is no registered affordable housing planned for this site, the notion that this will increase housing for low income families is fanciful. Developers will naturally seek to maximise their profits by aiming for the highest price and focus their marketing at retired people and investors.
All parking should be compliant with LEP policy regarding residents and visitor parking allowances. Council should not relax parking requirements on the hypothetical forecast that some future residents may not require parking.
