We object in principal to the wholesale gifting of commercial space to businesses. If we wanted to extend our home out into the street it'd be laughed out of town. But council is effectively gifting large areas of land to extend business premises at zero cost. While residents have lost massive amounts of parking and footpath space. My friends can't find parking to come and visit us and we can't find parking to pick up takeout and general shopping. While covid restrictions were in place this was a great idea, but now it's just the raping of local residents rights.
