I have read the application which includes the ability to serve alcohol on the premises. This is a residential area and it is not appropriate for a license to be granted for the service of alcohol in a residential home. There is no explanation of how the persons leaving the premises will be managed, how there will be a responsible service of alcohol, why alcohol needs to be served from a home regardless of any zoning allowances. Due consideration should be given the lack of specifications provided by the applicant. There is also no plan provided. Where will the alcohol be served? There is insufficient information provided in this application to warrant granting it and it should be denied. The neighbourhood is entitled to know precisely what is planned to take place if the licence is granted. My child attends a school nearby and I do not consider it appropriate to serve alcohol from a home in Rockdale especially until midnight.

The public consultation site notice has not been affixed to the premises within the 2 working day period following the application lodgement. Nor has it been provided to the occupiers of surrounding buildings. The ILGA states that "failure to comply with all requirements may result in rejection of your application". Bexley Public School is located within 200m of this home. 7 day trading from 10am to midnight will have an unacceptable impact on the amenity of the neighbourhood and is inconsistent with the zoning. Little information is provided in the application, including important considerations such as the responsible service of alcohol and the management of patrons leaving the venue. The business' website refers only to the service of alcohol (no food), which is prohibited. Section 48(5) of the Liquor Act states that a licence must not be approved unless: “… the overall social impact of the licence, authorisation or approval being granted will not be detrimental to the well-being of the local or broader community”.
