It’s a heritage overlay and it should apply as it does to residential homes that are classed as heritage overlay.
Since when is a public park taken over by sporting clubs like the cricket and football club at Shore Reserve? The park cannot be enjoyed by residents as it’s always used by these sporting clubs. These clubs need to move to a footy oval, they don’t own the public space that is residents can’t enjoy as they are using our park for practice days, game days. Us residents have had enough. If this continues we will stop paying our fees that contribute to the parklands.

A much needed renovation. We love watching the local footy and cricket matches on the field on the weekends. No objection by us. As to the earlier comment by the “resident”- Where is your community spirit? Local children play in team sports at Shore Reserve which builds character, bonding and resilience and those clubs have been operating for years. The council took away the carpark for the kinder and we all knew it would cause parking chaos however the majority of us walk to the ground as we are all local rate paying citizens as well.
Playing sports used to mean turning up and wearing the same clothes home. Why the need for even more facilities. Why do you need a new facility to watch sport?
No one wants to stop people playing sport, it's the amount of Infrastructure apparently needed these days which takes over the green open space - which is what parklands are for. Passive use of green spaces is getting harder as the greenspaces get smaller and smaller as more infrastructure and concrete is added.
If sporting bodies need a spot to mingle and have some food and drinks, go to a restaurant, that's their purpose. A greenspace is to be shared.
It's great that the club rooms are getting an upgrade, but from what I can see in the documents, they haven’t included a single bike hoop in all of Shore Reserve. Football or cricket almost every single weekend, 2 playgrounds, 2 BBQ areas, the whole place teeming with neighbourhood kids, and zero bike parking? That seems crazy to me.
