It appears that the council has missed the once in a lifetime opportunity to negotiate public riverfront access here between Monaco Street and the northern tip of Cascade Gardens.
Given the massive relaxation of planning and design standards that has been allowed to approve the development application, the potential community benefit of a direct public access way and shortcut between the park and Florida Gardens would have been a very reasonable trade-off.
Is it too late to achieve this now?
