It is difficult to see if there are any large trees on this site. However, I think it is about time Willoughby City Council began to charge property owners for the loss of trees. There are formulae available for valuing trees that include loss of amenity, age of the tree, species, condition, etc. I understand that for mature native trees this valuation can be greater that $20,000. That may deter owners from removing a tree for a small structure.
