This request must be rejected. Why is the reason of "proximity to house" and "power lines" a good reason for removal or rather the killing of 3 healthy native gum trees which are well established and most importantly adjacent to the reserve. These trees must be protected and there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. I walked by this area daily and they serve as a corridor for native animals to the reserve. It's appalling to see these type of requests. What is the council doing to stop this type of nonsense. At most these 3 trees can be pruned but that's about it. Enough of this plus the lack of information is a recurring issue. No photographs and no expert advice such as an arborist report. These are well-known established and extremely healthy trees. There are people in the community that do keep an eye on these matters.
There is no supporting documentation and therefore the application is non-compliant with Vegetation Guidelines, Council guidelines and is not supported by the local community.
Proximity to decks and pergolas is not a relevant consideration.
Proximity to power lines is not a reason for removal. Councils prunes trees on Council land, and Councils via contractors also prune private trees impinging towards power lines. Removal is not an option for these trees. Removal affects soil mass, water retention and causes subsidence issues, destruction of flora and fauna.
This heritage listed environment must not be interfered with.
