Getting rid of the agapanthus and frangipani wouldn't be an issue, but the loss of the large trees would be a devastating to connectivity and habitat for our local birds and other wildlife. The block looks to be large enough to build around the large trees

I agree with Mary Ann Irvin that the loss of large trees interrupts connectivity between habitats for wildlife. The proximity of this property to Ferndale Park makes this strongly relevant. It is very pleasing to see a thorough arborist's report and their recommendation of the retention of six of the trees, in particular two native trees. The fruit of the kentia palm (#11) is used by migratory and local birds. The Illawarra flame tree (#8) supports native butterflies, some of which are have a vulnerable conservation status. It is very important that these trees are retained and protected from the development.

It is good to be able to read the arborist assessment. I do hope it is followed. The trees in question (specially the big trees) are on the side of the land and I'm sure that they would be able to be retained. Big trees are so important to our wildlife and the look and feel of the area. They provide a lovely aspect, shade and sustain life.
