I am extremely concerned about the recommendation going through for 8 Western Crescent due to the significant impacts it will have on local places of residence. I do not believe that these impacts have been fully assessed and understood, and as such, would like further action taken from the developers / builders to better understand how they can mitigate the impacts of their proposed development on locals.

There has been no View Study conducted on how the proposed development will impact residents from certain levels of neighbouring properties. Multiple residents views will be impacted with the new proposed eye soar building. This proposed development is not consistent with Victoria Road developments, and is creating a precedent for high rises to be built away from Victoria Road now.

In spite of no View Study conducted from all neighbouring residences, it is clear that owners views will be impacted throughout the entirety of the owners properties. Consistency with Gladesville's master plan is conflicting, as it seems as though Gladesville is becoming more and more over developed without supportive infrastructure. Gladesville is a beautiful suburb being destroyed by multiple developments without firstly worrying about the supportive infrastructure to sustain the influx.

I object to this DA for the following reasons and propose Ryde council also reject this proposal. It is not sustainable for the area. Build more facilities that are needed in the area before you bring in even more people. How can another high rise be considered when there has not been enough investment into the infrastructure and services within the area first!? This will just create more people, more problems and more traffic in what is already a high traffic area. We don’t need Gladesville turning into another suburb full of high rises that makes it impossible to get in and out with all the congestion. There is becoming less of a reason to live in our beautiful suburb of Gladesville with constant building interruptions due to construction and the horrible existing infrastructure that definitely will not handle the future increase. Please mitigate impacts on existing residents and look at the outcomes coming out of the Gladesville Masterplan, for some longer term insights before deciding on continuing another development which is not aligned to the long-term vision.

Infrastructure is insufficient for the number of people already living within the bounds of Victoria and Morrison roads in Gladesville. Another high density complex like this will only exacerbate the issue. Traffic is substantial during peak times and there is inadequate parking often leading people to just stopping and parking illegally. Not only are the roads and parking areas insufficient and lacking in space but there are no petrol stations in Gladesville at all and there is not adequate shops or services to accommodate this significant number of people. Adding to the already overpopulated area without doing anything to address congestion and a lack of services isn't great. If it's not over 55s living, why are we over populating our beautiful suburb with more and more identical units!

I object to this DA for the following reasons:
There are already enough multi storey buildings within Gladesville and no supportive infrastructure. Even the current shops, transport and local grocers have been completely busy during COVID-19, Gladesville is not set up sustainably to withstand more multi-storey dwellings. I strongly believe there are far too many unit complexes within Gladesville without the correct infrastructure, we are setting up our suburb to fail!
In addition, how does this proposed development align to the Gladesville Masterplan (around Massey St), and the current community consultations that are taking place. With no alignment, what is the point of having a Masterplan if not all the proposed developments are included within. This proposed development will be completely out of place and just leads to potential additional multi-storey buildings been developed in Gladesville that are further away from Victoria and Morrison Road, they will start appearing anywhere. This will be a standalone building looking completely out of place! If there has to be continued developments, these need to be aligned and address future needs (e.g. over 55's living as originally proposed), otherwise what's the point of over populating Gladesville with developments that are all the exact same, and do not meet the diverse needs of the population.

I don't support the consent to build another high rise because not enough thought has been given as to the effects to the local community.
The demolition occurred under the pretence that it was to accommodate over 50's.
I agree and support the other comments already submitted.

I do not support this development and ask that Council reject this DA for the following reasons:
It does not meet the Gladesville Masterplan where it was stated that the Victoria Road corridor would allow building up to 6-8 stories. This development is not on Victoria road, if allowed it will set a precedent that will allow other multi story developments to go ahead.
Surrounding buildings will loose their views plus it will spread a shadow over houses on Ross Street.
The infrastructure in the area cannot support another development of this size. Pre schools and schools are already at capacity.
The original proposal was for an over 50's development not for multi story apartment block.
If this is allowed to happen tehri will no doubt be applications logged to build similar buildings taking away form the peaceful nature of Gladesville no one wants to live surrounded by high rise buildings the whole reason why people live here now.
I agree and support the other comments already submitted.

I do not support the build of another high rise unless it's for the over 50s living as originally proposed. We have enough high rises in Gladesville.

  8. Harrison H commented

I do not support any additional high rises being built in Gladesville. We require more supportive infrastructure prior to more high rises.

  9. Nada W commented

I can only reiterate all the comments made above. Council should stop the overdevelopment of Gladesville which has only devalued the quality of living in the area. There are too many people, too many cars, too much traffic, not enough parking, limited public transport and congestion.

  10. Mitch commented

It's such a shame that the over-development continues in Gladesville ruining a great suburb.

I have a small property near this site. I have unfortunately seen the formerly pleasant suburb of Gladesville deteriorate significantly over the last 25 years due to excessive density and development.
I do not support this development and ask that Council reject this DA for the following reasons:
This development along with all the other multistory developments will reduce property values in the area.
The design is out of character with the area.
It does not meet the Gladesville Masterplan where it was stated that the Victoria Road corridor would allow building up to 6-8 stories. This development is not on Victoria road, if allowed it will set a precedent that will allow other multi story developments to go ahead.
The development is not on a major thoroughfare.
Surrounding buildings will lose their views plus it will cause overshadowing on Ross Street.
The infrastructure in the area cannot support another development of this size. Pre schools and schools are already at capacity.
The original proposal was for an over 50's development not for multi story apartment block.
The construction is not environmentally sustainable and will contribute to greenhouse gas emission.
I agree and support the other comments already submitted.

I strongly support this application. It's amusing that all comments so far are opposing the modification proposal because it'll result in 'over-development' when the DA has already been approved by the LPP in 2021! It appears that Ryde residents have difficulty reading!

This modification will increase the number of 3-bedroom apartments, which is highly-needed and strongly supported

  13. David Bosch commented

I strongly support this application. Gladesville is in desperate need of a revamp and more infrastructure. The building will add more appeal to the suburb and provide high end living for future residents.
