This must not be allowed to happen. This is a heritage area and has hardly changed since i t was brought in by Council moved by me when I was a councillor in the City of Camberwell as it was then before it was Boroonadara.. This heritage area between Riversdale and Canterbury Roads must be kept heritage.
The owner of this better sell up and buy somewhere they can do what they want, but they cant do it in a heritage area.

This cannot happen in a heritage overlay area!

1045 Burke Road was a magnificent Queen Anne residence which was bowled over despite having significant heritage overlay. Look at the shipping container style “architectural” designed (🙄) monstrosity now!!
Corner Burke and Rathmines rd, opposite St Marks church.

I live nearby but while I don't personally like the design at all it doesn't seem terribly offensive. The one on the corner of derby is relatively modern not to mention the horrendous medical centre on Riversdale. Furthermore, the home it is replacing has no significance. Development is inevitable and for the suburb to keep its prestige, owners want to live in comfort not asbestos. I think if we are removing homes such as no.12/18/20/27 derby st then there is merit to be had in opposition.
