Is this serious, 314 dwellings on a postage stamp block?

This has got to stop! Should we form a Broadbeach action group?
Government departments keep passing the buck so unless someone takes action, this will continue. I tried to fight the 32 storey tower going up next door at 122 Surf Parade, but it falls on deaf ears when it is a lone voice.
Are there grounds for a class action? So many local residents are having their quality of life affected and are being financially disadvantaged with the value of their properties plummeting as a result of lost views and lost privacy.
Just a thought but there is safety and power in numbers.

I am a resident of Surfers Paradise, I actually live on one of the islands, and think a class action is a must, not just in Broadbeach. Having seen all the applications for large tower blocks being approved by the Council I’m sure it won’t take long for the whole of the Gold Coast to be affected.

Please keep me informed and I will drum up some support in my area.

In response to Lisa and Nicole regarding this planning alert, if you're on facebook follow Community Alliance https://www.facebook.com/CommunityAllianceAssociationInc and if you're interested in Broadbeach follow Better Broadbeach as well https://www.facebook.com/betterbroadbeach. Both are interested in local planning.

I am very concerned at the Morris Group's domination of the Gold Coast. Look at how they refused to perform emergency repairs on their shoddy work on Kingston Place Apartments when they were prolific in Canberra https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-10-11/morris-construction-defies-rectification-order-on-kingston-place/11591372 Now they are looting the Gold Coast.
This 40 floor tower they propose includes 4 underground parking levels. I am in Belle Maison and we have already had the expense of repairs to our underground water storage because of damage caused by 122 Surf Parade construction. Expensive repairs already undertaken were then damaged again. How would this Australia Ave monstrosity impact the buildings nearby, the water table and the structural integrity of surrounding buildings? I do not have confidence in their care when I see what they have done to the residents of Kingston Place and their local council in the ACT.

Building a 40 storey tower next to a 3 story apartment block is not increasing existing heights by 50%. 11 and 17 Australia Ave are both 3 storey walk ups - how unfair proposing a 40 storey tower right next to them! Additionally the Morris set back from the street is half the distance of the 2 buildings either side of them (11 and 17 Australia Ave). It shows total disregard for the area - like Morris did to their buyers in Synergy, building the Cube right next to them and wanting to box them in further with another tower. This proposed plan is too big and does not allow sufficient boundary for the height. In Belle Maison we provide extensive gardens on 2 acres of land - good for birdlife, good for fair space, wide boundaries between other buildings and shared sun.

I'm afraid that Morris is building another tower of boxes - no interesting roof line as specified in the new city plan, no style that would add to the aesthetics of the Coast. In fact, the Morris box/bulk fit designs remind me of tenement buildings in the slums of major cities around the World. Opus, Cube and Koko all look the same. They are certainly not stylish like some well planned buildings.
The parking in the area is already choked. This development only allocates 1 park per residence, even the 3 bedrooms. Very few locals work on the tram line so proximity to tramline should not be a decider. What would this tower offer the local area? At the very least they should provide 50 parks for any locals or visitors to use, free for 3 hours at least. Over 300 apartments - what leisure activities will they offer the local area? What public park areas will they enhance? I suspect it is just take, take, take and nothing for the local residents.
I have watched some La Grande balconies and feel very sad for owners. They have lost almost all their sun and privacy. I do agree with Nicole about class actions due to quality of life being taken away and values of assets devalued. There are more and more victims - then 118 Old Burleigh Rd proposes a 37 story tower and this one 40 storey tower. This has been allowed to go too far with ridiculous political handballing that the State Govt says we have to provide more residences. There are plenty of large parcels of land that could support towers and still have wide green fair boundaries. Number 1 question for a development should be how are they improving the area? Smart planning can achieve both objectives. Many of the current developers are on a loot and run mission because it has been allowed.
Please do not approve this development at 13 Australia Ave in it's current form.

The key thing to lobby for is reintroduction of requirements for landscaped open space at ground level so that there is some greenery and spaces between the towers.
