This house is in a section of Blackwood Street where there are rows of character properties. The BCC city plan stipulates that houses built in or before 1946 (which 125 Blackwood Street obviously is) are to be retained and any extensions or alterations are to complement the traditional building style. Does the reconfiguration of this lot comply with these rules? It doesn't appear to.
Too many character properties are being allowed to be demolished in Mitchelton and concrete blocks completely devoid of architectural merit or aesthetic value are being built in their place in order to gain the quickest profit for developers.

People really need to review the development application material before making comment. The proposed development is a subdivision, and the developer's reports and plans all clearly show that the two existing houses are going to be retained on the property as is, where is.... the subdivision does not involve the demolition or alteration of any character houses, and the run of traditional houses along the street will remain.

In this case, that's good to know. I was merely asking for confirmation of compliance with the BCC city plan. Mitchelton has lost many character houses over the past several years so it's understandable for locals to be dubious whenever there are development applications for such lots, particularly when subdivisions are involved. As for reading the development application material, the available information isn't exactly self-explanatory.
