Tragic loss of all those trees and vegetation within such close location to the GreenWay. Surely some of those trees could be saved? Council must ensure some mature trees are saved and consent conditions requiring keeping deep soil and planting new trees.

The council needs to find a way to save more trees. Often these developments thoughtlessly start with clearing the site when some trees could still co-exist and even improve the proposal. Mature trees should especially be preserved. Apart from their value for wild life and shade they soften and improve the aesthetics of the neighbourhood. Do we really want these more beautiful green suburbs of the Inner West to emulate the grim desert of places like Maroubra? I think not.
