The demolition of the house at 2 Stephens Parade is nothing short of disgraceful. It may not have heritage overlay but it was only built in the last decade, at great expense no doubt and now in order to build a huge monstrosity it must be knocked down. The mammoth footprint will amount to environmental vandalism and even if it is 7 star place it will still leave an enormous footprint that overly contributes to climate change. The owners must have way too much money and a need for personal validation to want to go ahead with this beast.
It will lessen the view for the teams of people who walk, run and cycle past there every day. The construction phase will be disruptive as huge trucks travel up and down damaging the roads and speeding past the elderly golfers and the primary school children. This type of development demonstrates much of what is wrong with the world. It is more than a shame, it is a disgrace and once approved it will pave the way for more and more huge local developments until Barwon Heads loses its village appeal. Shame on you if you approve this COGG. Do I object? You best I do, as do many many many others who are too busy and feel that it is a waste of time objecting.
