This development is at the edges of the CBD. The perimeter of the CBD should have heights stepped down. 27 stories is excessive.

The development needs to comply with height limits set for the area. 27 stories proposed is excessive and not in symmetry with surrounding buildings. Question - is this a profit maximisation by the property owner , at the expense of the area/community/environment?

This proposal, which is located within the extended rezoned Chatswood CBD boundary, has been approved by Willoughby Council (Mixed Use B4) and received Dept of Planning Gateway determination.
Other approved planning proposals include the Payless and Midas sites, 629-639 Pacific Highway, Chatswood, located south of the enlarged Chatswood CBD boundary which extends to Mowbray Road. WCC wants to keep the central core of Chatswood CBD for offices and not residential.

I agree with the other comments in that 27 stories for this location is excessive. When calculating the number of apartments and how many parking spaces will be required, I am also wondering how the city is going to deal with the impact to traffic on Pacific Highway. This is already a highly congested section and will become even worse during peak commuter times.

I think the larger issue is that the local councils are pressured by state government to increase housing so how do we fight state government? I do love that Willoughby Council are happy to push for more high rise buildings in Chatswood, so they don't have to change the footprint in Willoughby and the surrounding areas.

My major concern with all of these large scale developments is the impact to traffic congestion, the impact on the surrounding natural landscape since they often pull out established trees to build these ugly buildings. Not to mention the destruction of habitat for our native wildlife and removing a much needed natural canopy during the hot summer months. It won't be long before Chatswood resembles a concrete jungle and then I know the developers will try to build larger scale apartment complexes in our lovely Roseville.
