Why can't this significant river red gum be retained? It does not provide a major impediment to development on the site, standing as it does near the street boundary. We are losing too many significant trees in Adelaide. The removal of this tree will add to the decline of Hampstead Road that commences with the demolition of two major heritage buildings at Hampstead Rehabilitation Center. Council has a good street tree planting program, but it should stand up to greedy developers who do not appreciate natural and built heritage.

It is key to the environment that this significant beautiful red river gum remains. Urban Trees like this are needed for their important work in improving air quality and decrease the circulation of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and ozone, adding their beauty, reducing urban heat and places for our birdlife to live. This tree is irreplaceable given the age of this tree.
Hampstead Road is an ultra busy road with all the freight double semi trailers that use this route making for a high level of pollution for the ever growing population and higher density living that is currently on the rise in this area.
