Here is an example of greed rather than good planning - asking to replace 6 units with 120.
Parcel of land too small to allow for green space, privacy, sun and breezes for existing residents.
I would ask what the developer plans to do to enhance the neighbourhood?
I also agree with Paul's comments on 143 Surf Parade and would happily attend a meeting to address concerns about Broadbeach being ruined. I have written to council and received limited responses from some councillors, have spoken with town planners and am hoping the rate payers voices will be listened to. I would also encourage other concerned residents to let council know of their concerns.

This is insanity building a 29 storey right next to a 52 storey with inadequate separation. No supposed views for either block. You would be making a mistake buying in this development thinking you would get any hinterland views instead living in a shadow half of the day. I feel sorry for the people who bought off the plan for the 52 storey development with expected ocean views replaced with a concrete wall 10 metres away. Where do all to extra cars go? Where do the building trucks go during construction with 2 concurrent projects at the same time? This has been the impact in Britannia Avenue. Surely this is pure greed over need.

Yes totally agree with previous comments.
15 Rosewood ave 52 stories
11-13 Rosewood ave 28 stories
10 St Kilda ave 21 stories (adjacent-rear)
Whilst each seperate development may eventually pass councils guidelines
However as the 3 towers are next to each other with minimum set backs they will have a permanent and extremely overbearing and shadowing effect on most of rosewood ave residents.
Is this really good Gold Coast Council planning practice ??

This is part of the continued ruination of Broadbeach. We live in and own an apartment at Bella Rosa in First Ave and are also about to experience the same dramas and nuisance with two 30plus level towers going up either side us concurrently.
This is total greed and the destruction of our neighbourhood. Two years of noise, dust, vibrations, loss of groundwater for our irrigation, potential structural damage to our building due to the extremely close proximity of the construction on both sides of us.
Who is going to pay for the repair or possible damage to our building due to the construction?
In addition to this we will suffer access problems when trying to leave our building or enter it, tradesman parking all over the place and total loss of our amenity. This is just not good enough. This is something we need to remember at the next election and start looking for a Councillor who cares about their constituents not the no name no face greedy developers from interstate.
There is strength in numbers - it might be time to start up a local community action group.

I also agree about the ruination of Broadbeach - no consideration has been given to the local people who live here.
So disappointing that a council that is supposed to be looking out for its people can cause so much stress and worry to them with these decisions on the above mentioned unsightly monstrous constructions so close to each other.
Total destruction of a lovely peaceful community with no thoughts of the impact on surrounding access, parking and noise pollution, invasion of privacy let alone the complete darkness the surrounding buildings will encounter with the planned excessive height of these buildings.
I think a letter to the local councilor may help with this issue.
Maybe start an action group to address these issues.

We are currently going through the development of a 32 level high-rise in Surf Parade on the adjoining block. We wrote letters to council, we letterbox dropped our neighbours in Capricornia and Belle Maison to try and generate support as we are all affected by this development.
We have had Councillor Darren Taylor out to view the damage already done to our property. His answer is we have to take it up with QBCC (who have just had the findings released of the government-ordered inquiry into their structure. The results were scathing... no surprise there!
Cr Taylor says nothing will change until the Gold Coast City Plan is amended.
The GCCC don't care because they make millions off the development and don't have to live with it day and night for years during construction. Electing a different government will not make a difference, they tell you what you want to hear to get elected then toe the line once in office. It's the same sh*t just different smell. (Can you tell I am tired and frustrated??)

Nicole, Paul, Brett, Graham, Peter - totally agree and hope we can help turn the tide. There are large vacant blocks all over the Gold Coast that could support well planned development with wide boundaries. The development could be for stylish buildings with plenty of parking, neighbour privacy, fair access to sunlight and proper infrastructure - growth is possible without destroying existing properties. Nicole - sorry they approved 200 apartments with 56 carparks! No wonder you're fed up. Lip service when we complain.
