I think it is silly that you allow flats to be built in this area.
However I guess it’s more rates you can spend on yourselves 😡

Yes there is money in it.
But 11 dwellings where there was just one house and a big garden and privacy? I would feel more confident if the build was of high quality but they so often are not. The apartments in Stawell Street for example which replaced an older block seem quite unattractive and cheap looking.
Big developments like this rarely have room for personal outdoor space, like somewhere to hang washing etc or air the doonas.
Let’s hope Boroondara council have ensured that solar energy and roof top gardens and all the rest of modern eco friendly building will be included. I can’t do all the work with my FOGO bin if a big development relies on energy guzzling aircon rather than double brick and airflow/light orientation.
If this build is a perfect example of modern climate friendly construction in beautiful Studley Park then go ahead.
Totally agree with the comments already made and on good planning grounds the council should REJECT the DEVELOPMENT and consider an appropriate alternative and progressive development.
How is this latest development plan different from the one that was REJECTED several years ago? If it is the same plan, then the decision is easy because it has already been made.
i had a 22 multi storey development next door to me rejected twice at VCat over 20 years and on the 3rd application to VCat last year they were successful because the QC for the developer made sure he had a pro-development member hearing the matter. it was completely rigged. The neighbours paid for a barrister which was a complete waste of money and our time. It was a done deal before we even set foot in the court door.
